That setting is nothing to do with allowing it, that happens automatically and it therefore makes no difference. What ‘prefer maximum performance’ does is run the clocks at full speed when it otherwise isn’t necessary, simply wasting power and generating more heat.
Apparently however, there are certain situations where the clocks don’t increase accordingly. I’ve never come across one though, and I haven’t seen any evidence of one either.

Pimax is recommending TAA for 2024?
I haven’t tried what is in that article (most visual graphic settings off), but I have a hard time seeing those settings sustaining 45 fps.
400% valve index is 5700px. That’s probably beyond what is needed for max detail on that headset, but regardless, can you confirm that is what you meant to say, and, your DLSS settings and FPS at that resolution, and what your setup is. Sounds intriguing if true.

Yes, it was unusually high resolution. I tested with anti-aliasing OFF, texture resolution Ultra and Low, and everything else low or off. I was looking for the effect of resolution on performance. I use fpsVR for measuring.
I flew the DO J in both sims with this setup.
It was not sustainable with my hardware. I have it set to 150% now, and I’m using TAA 100% until I get a new video card. I’ll push it back to 200% with a 40 series GPU and the latest CPU. That’s my expectation.
No idea why people are seemingly having a go over that page - it’s just an info page I came across and posted a link to for others possible interest.
I didn’t write it, I don’t know who did, and I haven’t followed any advice in it cos my set-up runs just fine as it is.
This is a good example of why I end up deleting the majority of my forum posts, though - when I bother finishing them in the first place.

Ok so DLSS performance + super resolution by 1.5-2x will always always always be better than TAA, despite what people claim or believe who haven’t properly tested and despite what the abnormally large text in the screenshot above preaches. You can get TAA to look better but it’s a slideshow, or you can get TAA to be the same frames, but you lose tons of detail vs DLSS + higher res. I tried again last night and it’s absolutely no contest whatsoever. TAA DOES look better than DLSS at the same resolution, but with super resolution by 2x you get way more frames than TAA AND it looks better, so unless you love low res + slideshow, prob use DLSS lol. but each to their own!
13900k + 64GB + RTX 4090 + Varjo Aero. Just jumped into MSFS 2020 again to test:
- Most settings high or ultra. Trees medium (look good though, realistic coverage unlike 2024 on medium which look thin)
- 5800px x 5000px x 2 eyes = almost 60 million pixels (3x more pixels than those running at 3000x3000)
- DLSS Performance ( == MSFS is actually rendering 2900px per eye, deep learning creates the rest of the pixels)
- Flying iron P38
- Low level (<50ft) around scotland at 300 knots
- Flying in formation close quarters with Dad who was in corsair
Result:
- 45 FPS locked (as low as 42 FPS about 1% of the time, during heavier scenes)
- Varjo Motion Reprojection giving my eyes 90FPS - looking down at the ground as it passes is like butter, absolutely zero staggered frames or stutters.
- Butter smooth, zero stutters, pauses, or missed frames for minutes at at time
- Incredible clarity in headset, basically retina level resolution.
Show me MSFS 2024 getting anywhere remotely close to this and I’ll buy you a beer

I know that, just commenting on it too. I appreciated the share.
It’s making me rethink TAA in 2024 but I feel it will require an RTX 6090 TI Super.
It looks better in your opinion, I’ve tried all the tricks and tweaks and yes while I can improve performance, reduce latency etc the simple fact remains for my acceptable visual standard, glass cockpits and small text looks poor.

I am happy that youre eyes are telling you that DLSS is better.
But first dont compare 2020 to 2024.
2024 is so much more detailed and has so much more visual extras that fs2020 does not even come close.
I gave you the doubt so I did all testing again this morning but I see something else
I tested them all secondary scaling from 1.5 to 2.
All DLSS settings but it does for me not come close to TAA. Even Fps is not much better even.
Just to be clear I use only FS2024.
I already told you to use the 737max and check the cockpit instruments. You then reply that youre P38 looks great. How can you compare such planes? Thrust me a P38 is not comparable to a 737.
So did it all and ended with TAA in the 737max.
No way I am going to use supersampled DLSS.
DLSS makes it 100% more difficult to read the instruments. And even the outside world looks so much better in TAA.
And slideshow? Maybe you need to check youre computer because I run a quest pro with fovehead rendering with 30/37 fps with the enhanced Adam version of just flight.
2020 is done and if it makes you happy to use it with DLSS be my guest.
But its 2024 now and I like to use the newest and greatest sim I have seen sofar and it looks just stunning in TAA with great fps, no stutters and the most fluent experience I had till now.
And maybe you should ask yourself why a specialised VR builder like Pimax tells their clients to use TAA?
For now Happy flying and I wish you a lovely day!

I run at 72Hrz which looks amazing and this is all I need. This is a takeoff at eham with a 737 at ultra settings. I dont need more for now, period.
Ps of course in TAA
With that resolution, you don’t need AA. Try it without for a few days. Your eyes will adjust and your brain will filter out most of the jaggies. That is the sharpest and most vibrant you will see the sim.
Many people are experiencing poor performance with MSFS 2024 on high-end systems. Plenty of videos and images have already been shared across this and other forums, clearly showing this issue. There’s even evidence that MSFS 2020, with the same configuration, performs better in terms of performance and, in some locations, even looks better visually. Instead of all this blah, blah, blah, you should do the same and provide your evidence.

The discussion is not compare 2020 to 2024.
we are discussing TAA versus DLSS.
And If you believe that fs2020 is comparable to 2024 fine. But for me its not. 2024 is visual way up in my experience. I dont care about all videos I am the judge of that.
I have no idea why people have issues with an high end. Mine runs amazing and I read also about others who are very happy.
But what is youre point? What do I need to proof? That 2024 is more beautifull?
Its my experience and I am not even want to compare to 2020. I fly a lot over the Netherlands and what I see just there is non comparable to 2020. And I have no idea why people cant get it running. Maybe there are also problems on the users site on how to set things up, or operating system being messed up. And yes there are aso still bugs. But I can see that 2024 is a big step up.
And that is just after release.

I reckon I may have the lowest spec PC in the known world out of those running MSFS 2024 in VR - unless somebody can beat this!
i5 6600
GTX 1060
16 GB RAM
Quest 3
Virtual Desktop
60 Mbps internet
I don’t even have all my settings on low. I love the grass, trees, buildings, fauna and clouds - so I have them on high. I have VD on medium. I mostly fly around in the Powerchute for obvious reasons - though the small helicopters and balloons are also doable. And yes it is very stuttery in a way that most people would find unacceptable, but I still get enjoyment from it.
In case you think I’m crazy, I do have a PC with an RTX 4090 on order, which should arrive by New Year. Meanwhile it amuses me to see what performance I can squeeze from my underpowered system. (I previously had a Rift S in MSFS 2020. The performance was obviously better, but that’s not surprising given the lower res headset. But even then it was pretty borderline if I wanted to fly a faster plane.)

I don’t have anything to say right now other than that this is the 1000th post on this post on VR in MSFS 2024. I sure hope MS and Asobo are paying attention and come to the rescue with some badly needed fixes for VR with this title.

Thanks!
I’m using that already.
My question was about the content in our Libraries inside MSFS 2024. But the answer to my question is obviously not yet.
We were promised Jetpacks…
This is 2024 with no AA, headset at 120%, render scaling at 100% in the sim. It’s rock solid perfect performance for my 3080Ti. It stays at 40fps because it’s not quite enough for 80hz. In 2020 I get 80fps with this exact setup.
