What has your VR experience been like in Microsoft 2024 so far?

To my mind, if you have decided not to continue pushing the unofficial mods then you should fall everything back.
Not least because profile J will only work with dlss4 libs so if the libs go back then the nvidiaprofileinspector should be set back as well.

I’m pretty sure doing a clean install of a new nVidia driver resets any nVidia inspector settings you have made. For DLSS Tweaks if you used it, just remove the files you copied for it from your MSFS directory.

Yep exactly the same for me both in 2024 & also same in 2020. I feel I have a fairly high endish system (7800x3d, 4070tiS, 64ram, PC connected direct to internet & dedicated router for wi-fi).

I’ve watched all manner of YT vids claiming how amazing the quest 3 is in 2024 & 2020 & I’ve tried all manner of settings but to me its like flying in a slightly out of focus world.

Back to 2D simming for me especially in 2024, yes the immersion is not the same but the visuals are night & day when compared.

You are not alone. For me it was a big improvement switching from a Quest 3 to a Pimax Crystal light.

If the visual clarity is better on both Fs2024 and Fs2020 using the Pimax I would invest in one but I seem to keep hearing about their quality control. Maybe that’s all sorted now.
I wont be giving up on VR especially as FS2024 gets fixes along its merry way as the immersion you get is amazing, but its just not quite there for me yet visually especially with the Quest 3.

Just my 2 cents
I first tried 2024 with my Q3 about a month ago, it was so terrible running similar settings as 2020 i didnt even bother trying to tweak it, back to 2020

Recently upgraded PC. From a 12600kf 3080, to 7800x3d 4080 super
Tried ms2024 and its a different kettle of fish altogether
Whereas i saw only relatively small gains with my upgrade in 2020 saw huge gains on 2024

2024 in VR anyway just doest seem to like anything but top end! Performace completely drops off a cliff

I can now run 2024 with high settings, and its smoother than 2020 all round, no microstutters i was getting in 2020… well much less anyway

I figured with the beta I’d give this another try.

Once I switch into VR my rudder stops working, and literally no buttons on my keyboard work, the mouse doesn’t appear.

I literally cannot press esc to access the menu, alt-enter to get out of VR or anything at all. I can fly around, my externally configured peripherals work via spad, but basically the only thing working is ALT-F4 and restart the sim.

I would be super happy to where you guys are that you can complain about performance. To me I’m so far away from that, nothing works. I’d be happy to have poor fps be my primary issue

It is the most frustrating experience. :frowning:
G2

Edit: this happens whenever “toggle raycast” is pressed (I had it bound to a controller, there is no way out of it once you press it). I unassigned it now and at least I can proceed

Pimax CL will give you HUGE clarity gains vs Quest 3, that much is certain. Much better colors too.

And it’s definitely possible to get one where QA went well and there are virtually no distortions. I had one like this. I didn’t like it anyways though for various other reasons so returned it.

If I didn’t already have a VR1 I’d be looking into the Meganex Superlight 8k for sure!

I tried to film through the lens of my Vive Focus Vision, and created screenshots. Normally, the anomalies visible are due to the filming with my mobile. In real life, the image is supersharp, instruments are well readable, with no noticeable ghosting.

Rig:
I9, 13th gen
64 GB mem
RTX 4080 super (with Displayport connection on Ultra)
HTC Vive Focus Vision

This is from Beta 1 of FS2024, and with dlsswap applied (just chose the 310.1. Dlls version, further no presets selected).

I can only say: this looks superb! Frame rate: I haven’t measured it yet.

Agree. Similar hardware but 3090 on PCL using new DLSS. But still using OXRTK with sharpening, FFR and resolution override at PCL native. Think I may have gained a few frames as well. Image is extremely clear, inside and out although I see some trailing ghosting at times, not always, and the occasional “wobble” in the image, like a “blob” of out-of-focus areas on screens. I think this is the AI settling in as it goes away after a few minutes. Quite excited for release of new driver with DLSS4.

Back to link cable, VD had too many ctd’s and stutters, only stable with the 552.44 driver from May 2024 (are the VD devs not updating anymore?)

Somehow works great now, use also the oxr toolkit and the ‘forbidden’ dog program. Stable, stutter free. Got also rid of the crackling sound, using a wired headphone did the trick. Nvidia audio disabled, just realtek, no bluetooth connection. No cracks in the last 20 hours of flying.

There is one thing I noticed to make it work smooth with Quest3, first start up your headset, make the link with the meta Windows app, set fov off in the oculus debug, after that start MSFS from the PC, not in your headset menu.

Extra tip when using ASW and having the sky shimmers with clear skies, choose high level clouds, no shimmering anymore.

Hmmmm stutters have been sending me loopy recently, never considered it could be VD itself
Last time i tried link if was so inferior to VD, performace and visuals, have to give it another go!

Same, have wifi 6ghz dedicated at 1m distance for VD, nothing worked stutterfree, tried every codec and setting. Link was always bad, gave it a try and wow, so smooth suddenly. I am now actually enjoying flying instead of tweaking. Also with ‘dlss4’ all seems going the right way now.

Wireless link this is?

Performance is about the same as in MSFS2020 (for my PC), so it’s acceptable.
In MSFS2024, Asobo fixed the annoying glitch that caused the camera to move forward or backward when switching off the avionics. This issue still exists in MSFS2020. For daytime VFR, I prefer MSFS2024 due to the seasons (trees and ground textures). However, flying at night is terrible because of the new lighting.
Overall, my feelings are mixed: MSFS2024 is better for daytime VFR, but for other scenarios, I still prefer MSFS2020. I hope Asobo addresses the open issues in upcoming updates.

FS2024 has changed the way I fly.

For the past year or so in MSFS2020 I have been flying mainly IFR flights with VATSIM, or SayIntentions.ai when VATSIM was offline. This was possible in VR because of the Navigraph VR panel as well as the VR tablet provided in Sky4Sim. It was fun and rewarding to learn a new skill and flying style.

In FS2024 this kind of IFR flying in VR is much more of a hassle. The avionics in many aircraft are unreliable, or even unreadable, autopilot is often wonky, the EFB doesn’t work, and although you can still get the VR panels in Navigraph and Sky4Sim, the frequent stutters and bad framerate make them a lot harder to use.

I am still flying mainly in FS2024 but I do mostly low and slow VFR flying now, sightseeing over the spectacular new scenery and enjoying the seasons. When I get the urge to fly an IFR cross-country flight, I either try to tough it out in FS2024 (usually regretting it,) or just go back to MSFS2020 for an easy, hassle-free, and rewarding experience.

There was a VD update not too long ago. Not sure why your getting all of the CTD’s, and stutters. VD has been the one absolutely rock solid part of my setup since I started using it. I have a Wifi 6E Eero pro node right next to my sim rig, which might be partially why its soo stable. That node is hard wired to my main node about 20 feet away.

Same, 6e TP75 next to my head, router hard wired 3 feet away, even checked last week by provider technician at my place. But the link cable works somehow better now, so fine with me.

Yes I agree can’t wait for it to be fixed. I have been flying for 30 minutes or so and do the alt-n to skip to decent and it crashed, starts at zero airspeed, or some other weird anomaly. I do enjoy the quick firefighting missions and the parachuting
