What’s the latest DLSS that’s making the text better for you? The newest is still 310.4 right?
Yes DLSS Swapper shows this as the latest and combined with preset K gives best results imo
Oh OK. Yeah still quite some ghosting though, eg when nav frequency digits are changing.
yes me too, but only a bit: for bad quality there is a return policy, so i would send the headset back. and other than that they have been on the market for many years now, regarding software updates; meganex would be an alternative but they were only saved by the community, regarding their warp profile.
With the latest dlss4 overrides I don’t get any ghosting, or compression artifacts with 2020/2024 using my QPro with Link set to 900mbps Dynamic bitrate.
310.4 with model K? I definitely still see digits persist for much longer than they should when changing nav frequencies etc. on a GNS 530 or similar.
I previously was using a Quest 2 with Virtual Desktop and it was fair at best. I have an Alienware R14 Ryzen 9 5900 64 gb ram, RTX 4070 Super TI, and currently a Pimax Crystal Light. The PCL was a nightmare at the begining. Major tracking/connection issues. BUT, after much diligent work I love it now. I have a pair of presciption lenses which are great. Finding the best VR/Sim settings took a good bit of work but I am well pleased with the outcome. Never be as crisp as 2D, but very enjoyable.
Hi, this is what I am using with my Q3 but cannot recall where the Preset K shows up to verify I am on the right page.
Think I found it, was game settings for me:
- Open the NVIDIA app.
- Go to the Graphics tab.
- Find the game you want to change or select Global settings.
- Scroll to DLSS Override - Model Presets.
- Click Use the 3D application settings or Use different settings….
- In the Super Resolution dropdown, select Latest or manually choose Preset K.
- Click Apply to save the changes.
Well here is the bottom line on the ILS at SFO … my test is the ILS frequencies in small font on the flight director… readable for once.
Have noticed a strange VR issue when flying the Fenix A320 if I use their sim rate adjustment. (I went to 2X for a period of a flight to get to bed at a reasonable time). VR was smooth prior to the sim rate increase and during it but when I went back to normal, VR was stuttering slightly. It did smooth out after some time but it clearly didn’t like the change. Using a Quest 3 through VD. At approach I had another major bug but have no idea if it was related to the 2X use.
Doesn’t work at all for me on Win11. Created a dual boot with win10. Still doesn’t work. I am a former programmer who created software for MS and had a relationship with the guys at Redmond in the past.
I have a brand new system and there is a clear incompatibility, but that shouldn’t happen. Every other piece of software I use works fine except MSFS2020 and 24!
Give us some more detail on “it doesn’t work”. Are you using Virtual Desktop to connect (recommended but requires a separate router for best communication) or just CableLink/Airlink. Startup entire flight in 2D and then hit Ctrl+TAB and what is the error message?
EDIT: I tried the latest SU4beta (.31) - maybe that is what you are on - and CTRL+TAB doesn’t take it to VR (it should), just back to 2D. I had to enter the Settings→VR mode and activate it there - a bug! With Link/Airlink, since there is no passthrough like with Virtual desktop, dealing with this gets complicated (peeking is required)
What other PCVR apps (maybe DCS) work OK with your setup?
Right now, Dec 6 2025 this sim performs flawlessly for me in and out of VR in Ultra, maxxed everything on a 9800X3D 4090 64gb ram. DLSS DLAA no FG. No noticeable stutters.. Never been this good. TLOD 300 OLOD 200 no external performance enhancers. Running at 60hz max tv refresh.
Which VR headset are you using?
Yes I have a 5080 and a 7950 and it is fine at TLOD 300 OLOD 200 at 40 FPS with a Q3. It slows on landing at SFO to 30 but springs back when you get down the runway. I am running the FlighBeams enhancement and also traffic insertion. I think FlightBeams overdid the tire tracks on the touchdown zone. In any case with the internal FG of the Q3 running effectively 60-80 FPS and it is smooth. I’ll take this performance.
I always fly in VR. It usually works flawlessly, and I’m on Ultra with most everything else turned up. Alienware R16 and Quest 3. 14900K+5080 Super. 64gb ram. Either Virtual Desktop or through the Meta Quest Link
Fine point: the ASUS 5080 comes in two flavors one$$$ supposedly more overclockable. I have that one and tested the OCing and it really turns into a space heater. Normally I am CPU limited even with the 7950 running at 5.5Ghz… OCing might get a couple more % but the chip runs so hot it scares me even though it is supposed to be OK. Leave well enough along and running at stock settings… as long as I get smooth performance.
PS The 5080 is never close to full capacity normally 60-80% and VRAM never higher than 12/16. I wonder what the 5090 buys the customer. I guess you can add more LOD until the 5080 croaks and the 5090 still works.
You can also switch to DLSS DLAA or even supersample to pump more resolution into you headset if your GPU is consistently underutilized.
Thanks. I do not really understand DLAA. I am using the latest DLSS with the “K” setting in NVIDIA CP since “they” say you get the best resolution. I normally fly a lot of IFR in the B-787 and as an old-timer I need all the resolution I can get for the instruments. The 787 has some very small font on some instruments. Have to read or have AI explain it tome. Thanks for the comment as the clarity is at a premium for me.
PS I do not have DLAA as an option. I have TAA; DLSS Super; AMD FSR3. DLSS has submenus for Performane/Quality/Balanced etc.
