What 'high and fast' airplane should I start with?

Faster planes with larger performance envelopes require you to plan further ahead, especially during critical flight phases such as T/O and landing. It’s more important than ever to be at the VSpeeds, be stabilized and correctly configured, because things are happening faster.

Some manufacturers take a tiered consistent approach towards training for pilots moving to their first jet for example. Cirrus has their Stabilized Approach which requires the aircraft to be at a certain speed and configuration by the IAF, and then follow along with progressively lower VSpeeds by the FACF and the FAF and eventually “dirty up” configuration - full flaps, gear, so by the time you’re crossing the runway numbers, you’re about or at landing VSpeed. Teaching and indoctrinating that technique to SR20/22 pilots let’s them easily take those good flying techniques into the Vision Jet when they’re ready to transition types.
