What in your opinion is the most realistic Airliner for MSFS currently available?

Interested to hear your feedback- I figure its going to be awhile for PMDG to release an aircraft, and the Aerosoft CRJ has some…issues… So, Im looking to start using something outside P3D- I hear a lot about the Airbus Neo and some mods but not sure where to go at this point. Any suggestions from our community?

Yea 320NX hands down. Only thing remotely close is the CRJ

The PMDG DC-6 is set to release in a few weeks and that will be the only full-fidelity airliner in the sim. See their DC-6 tutorial series. No airliners seen in the sim so far can touch what they are about to deliver.

The A32NX may be full fidelity someday, but it still has a ways to go. The CRJ was never intended to be full fidelity, but all of the systems that one would expect to encounter in normal flight operations are fully implemented–with the exception of weather and terrain radar (which is due to deliberate choices made by Asobo in how WASM is supported and hopefully will be addressed).

I guess I would put it like this: The CRJ is arguably more fully implemented than the A32NX, but it has also been somewhat buggy. For example, the autopilot was supposed to be able to fly holds, but other than a standard entry, that feature has never worked. If the update which is releasing either today or tomorrow addresses the most egregious bugs then I would probably give the nod to the CRJ over the current A32NX for realism.

That said, A32NX is free. It is well done and a considerable number of systems are implemented (with more becoming available over time). I bought the CRJ when it released because it brought a level of detail to the sim that was in excess of what A32NX could provide at the time. Today, A32NX has made some great strides.

If you are just looking for realism, start with A32NX. However, if the CRJ appeals to you as an aircraft, wait a few days to see if the update has allowed the aircraft to make good on its initial promise.

There should be a patch for the CRJ later today that fixes most (or hopefully all) of the known issues.

I believe the CRJ Will updated today

Yes, I noticed that the Dev Update said today, but Mathijs was saying tomorrow. I hope you are right as I had kind of put the plane on the shelf due to bugs and I’m looking forward to flying it again after the new update.

Yes me too so hopefully it will be today

That is some nice patch notes. Many of them I never really noticed or encountered myself. Did have issues with the zig-zagging trying to follow LNAV and sometimes below GS on approach. I wish the 747 and 787 had patch notes that read like this CRJ update. Looking forward to it, it’s been on the shelf since WT CJ4 came out with version 12. Gonna have to get some new flights in with the CRJ now.

I vote for FlyByWire A32NX aircraft. Been flying it and livestreaming it almost every day.
That being said, I think PMDG is very close to releasing the DC-6 very soon, they’ve started some video tutorials on the aircraft using MSFS. But it’s not really a jet airliner, but an airliner nonetheless.

For what is available right now, it is the CRJ and A32NX, in that order. While I love the A32NX, you asked for most “realistic”. The A32NX currently doesn’t realistically represent managed Climbs and descents - A core fundamental to Airbus. Buggy or not, the CRJ, I feel, more faithfully represents the actual aircraft between the two. Just my opinion.

With this update no throttle raw input data for calibrating, it works perfectly with previous version, does anyone know of to fix it? i cant fly this plane, thanks in advance

Update is out now.

from Aerosoft forums:

so basically remove the files starting with ‘m’ from the LocalState folder.

I agree the A32NX is the best. I am really disappointed in the 747/787. I can’t wait for PMDG to start creating products in MSFS 2020, I really enjoyed flying them in FSX and I think the combination of the new world environment and their aircraft will be great.

I know fly by wire are working on the A380, which I am guessing will be excellent. I keep looking out for Concorde, haven’t flown that in the sim for years, lets hope they make a good job of it.

Thank you all for the great and informative replies! Its been a good day for releases it seems- I updated my JustFlight PA28, downloaded and installed the A320Neo (Got to check out that tutorial since Im a PMDG guy!), and will grab that AS CRJ update as well…Picked up the ORBX Catalina KAVX this morning as well…

Have a great weekend all!

Qualitywings 787 should be releasing within the next few months (should). I agree with all the replies, A32NX, Aerosoft Crj are the good aircraft for now. The PMDG 737 should be releasing this year or even at the end of summer!

Oh, that would be a good one! Thats my favorite next to the PMDG series…QW did a great job on that one for sure! would love to see it for MSFS!

@MortThe2nd

Where is that local state folder and what solution ?

Have throttle issues with my thrustmaster

Check the thread on the aerosoft forum. A fix is already made and almost submitted. In the mean time there are suggestions that binding throttle 1 and 2 to the same joystick axis might fix it.
