An example of a very subjective entry since it barely functions on Xbox and even some higher-spec PCs. The optimisation is terrible and it’s no bigger than KLAX, Ini’s version of which is almost flawless on the majority of systems.

There’s a difference between ’ aesthetically best’ and ‘universally best’.

Yeah that is fair enough, I do know what you mean by sanitised. That is a fair evaluation.

Yeah Pyreegue is the perfect example of great airports, no one can deny. He really tick’s all the boxes. Like you’ve said below, ini’s KJFK is amazing, but only if you have the machine to enjoy it. I get so excited everytime I see the train go by :rofl: I can’t imagine it working well on Xbox though. But the whole xbox issue is so weird, cause it isn’t aligned to detail as you say. But it doesn’t even seem to be the same for everyone so I dunno. As you say, LEBL works fine for you but when I was on Xbox it was awful. I had to get a PC in the end so I could enjoy the sim the way I wanted to.

It is the worst-performing scenery I have. But otherwise a very good one.

I agree, LVFR LEBL on xbox didn’t perform great for me, I had many black screens there. I do like that it tidies up the docks area and adds more to the city though.

For the airport itself I prefer their LEBB. The airport is a lot smaller but the approach from the hills is fun.

For big airports I like many of the above listed, also WSSS Changi. My home airport YPAD Adelaide is very nice, it’s by Impulse Simulations, but it never performed well on xbox. Can still stutter a bit on PC.

I think the worst performer I have is LVFR’s SCEL. On xbox I got instant CTD on loading there, I don’t think I managed to fly there ever. On PC it’s still something of a stutterfest.

There are many excellent airports (FlyTampa, Pyreegue etc) but if I had to choose THE best airport it‘d be Aerosoft Mega Airport Brussels by Jo Erlend. It‘s the most realistic looking airport I‘ve seen in any flight sim. It just feels complete in every way.

I’d say his Viracopos is actually better. More detail but equal performance.

Can’t really argue with any of the sceneries mentioned so far, so I won’t repeat those. Personally, I’d add Gaya Simulations LOWW to the list. I think it’s a bit under-rated.

A couple of my favourites from a Canadian perspective:

  • FSimstudios’s CYVR Vancouver. It was one of the earliest releases for MSFS2020 so it is showing its age a bit. But I find it is still pretty good. Includes the seaplane terminals at the South Terminal and Downtown Coal Harbour.
  • Roman Design’s CYOW Ottawa McDonald Cartier International
  • Roman Design’s CYYJ Victoria International is beautifully detailed. I am struggling a bit with an FPS hit: still have to figure it out as his work is normally well optimised.
