What is going on with live weather?

Thank you. I appreciate the tip. I’ll try that in a couple of hours when I get home from. I’ll report back on my success or failure.

Man, now I’m quite pi**ed, I have to say that. I really thought they’d changed something significantly. However, the “only” thing they did was to inject METAR into the game at and around airports. Period.

If anybody here wants to verify this: Spawn at a place like KTEX (a high-elevation airport) and take off. On the ground and at less than 5 miles around the airport, you’ll get METAR conditions. However, as soon as you go further, the OAT will increase (and maybe the pressure will decrease as well, didn’t check it yet) to the completely unrealistic values we are used to until now.

To me that proves that they’re using METAR at US airports now, the weather extrapolation or their corrections are still incorrect, though.

Well at least we now have the METAR data at the airports as stated previously, hopefully, they will continue working on it. At the very least we will have a better idea of what kind of weather and conditions to expect during departure and arrival. In the US at least.

Why on earth is the live weather bugged again? WTF is asobo doing? Every patch destroys things which were already patched ago! And now we have to wait at least until 23. December for a fix? Im nearly done with this frustating game.

Altimeter 29.92 and clear sky everywhere since last patch

Well, I’m on my 2nd flight using your technique, and I’ve got Live Weather. I’ll keep trying it to see if it continues to work, but so far, so good.

Thank you very much, good sir (I assume, my apologies if it should be madam instead lol). I appreciate the workaround.

Yeah it’s been working for me for a long time now.

The disadvantage is you can’t see weather for the departure or arrival airport from the flight planner, but it is better than restarting the game every time

Also it would seem that the departure runways are set based on the weather when you first load in, so you can potentially get assigned a runway for takeoff that has a horrible tail or cross wind, when another runway that would have been way better is available.

But all in all, this is much better than having to reload the game every time. Until Asobo can get this garbage sorted, this is as good as it gets.

You have my gratitude.

That’s one reason I always start cold and dark from a parking spot (not to mention I’m practicing my normal procedures as well). That way I get directed to the proper runway. I also don’t specify an approach when I create a flight. I always fly first, then check the weather where I’m going, see what they give me, and then choose the approach I want based on the conditions and what they chose for me.

Everyone else: Live weather is working

Me: Live weather is stuck on clear skies and 225/3 winds.

Just bought Rex weather because nearly every flight since Update 3 Ive only had clear skies and the 225/3 bug. Even when I got correct winds aloft I got incorrect weather.

Not sure if that’s the case, as shown in this post. The METAR read no wind and in-game there was a 11 kn crosswind at the destination. It’s kinda weird that the rest of the parameters fit nicely…

Guys, apart from the ATIS data being incorrect, is live weather still an issue for you? For me its working fine the last couple of days. Let me know if we could somehow close this thread or not. Thanks!

Why don’t you read my previous post?

No, seriously–at the moment I see those issues remaining:

I’ll investigate further, but for now I’d like this topic not to be closed.

Ah sorry, I thought this topic was dead for some time now. Guess I must have muted it at some point .

Live weather is technically working for me, but the depiction is quite poor.

I’m primarily flying around northern Australia, which has humid, unstable conditions at the moment. In sim I’m getting thin, low cloud layers, tops about 3-4000ft, generating rain and lightning, than clear air up to high level cloud. It looks ridiculous.

There seems to be some real issues suppressing convective cloud development at the moment.

Ok never mind, its hopeless again. What a pain in the behind is this piece of software… Spending more time restarting the sim, reporting bugs etc. compared to actually flying

By the way, how can dewpoint ever be higher than the actual temperature? I’ll do one flight and then sit behind Zendesk again   .

Oh boy… :man_facepalming:

I think it’s obvious that they’re not considering any “experts” when dealing with such parameters, they’re only trying to push data from Meteoblue without checking for consistency etc.

Deriving the dewpoint is a very simple calculation (1st order approximation) and can be done by data delivered by Meteoblue (of course they deliver the relative humidity in their data stream)… And the dewpoint itself is also part of the data stream, I guess. :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe errors like this explain why I’m always seeing cloud on the ground where they shouldn’t be.

30° and mainly sunny is not the right atmosphere conditions for scattered fog!
