Yea, system failures would be nice. But, in order to add failures, they have to fix failures first. Development failures like turbo prop engine simulation.
They don’t know this and nobody will believe this.
But imagine for a moment they implemented all these aspects of the realism that many wish were there.
Now say when you purchase the game, you get all the default aircraft: One of each.
If you damage it, you pay a small fee to fix it. Say 2 dollars to replace the engine.
You crash? Well son, you gotta buy a new one if you want to fly it. Five bucks.
Welcome to the most punishing but also the most captivating and engaging, and most popular and one of the most profitable, sims or games ever implemented.
Because while yes while you fly your life isn’t on the line, but what you do actually matters.
You would care for your aircraft. Name it. Customize it. And worry about a challenging flight - am I going to get this baby home?
Are we playing the same sim? Do you have damage turned off? I tried water landing several of the aircraft and except for the ICON, I heard the ear ringing sound of death (where did they find that sound??). Even in the bush missions I saw something interesting expecting a stall warning for an accelerated stall and instead BOOM… black screen of death. The ITT issue I will give you thou IRL my aircraft runs in the red on take-off which it is designed to do for a few minutes.
Now one event happened last week which really peaked the blood pressure; I showed 5% fuel left coming into Burbank in an CJ and all of a sudden… silence. Fuel starvation. Luckily the plane made it on the ground though I am sure that little airport in California has houses at the end of the runway outside of the sim and would not have appreciated me barreling into the family room at 2 am.
I also forgot to turn on the icing one flight over the Pacific while I took a nature break and came back to a full stall that had flashbacks to an unfortunate event in aviation history. I learned about a new island that day.
As far as YOLOs, well, there are some aircraft that make it and some do not. There is a story about someone in a hot air balloon going up thousands of feet and living to tell about it so these things happen. Airplanes are not made out of glass and it takes a lot to break them. Some more than others.
Either way, we do things in the sim we would not really do and TBH there are things I do in my plane I would not do in a sim because, well, boring.
Haha… Considering, how I took care of my REP Baron58 flying in Xplane, and how much it hurt when I broke something that would cost me virtual FSE dollars. This might very well be the most evil micro transaction Microsoft can implement.
