Hello,
Small update for my part, I ended up uninstalling completely MSFS 2024 for now. Whatever I do, one day it’s working, the next day this RdrThread overloads everything again.
Yes, I could stick with 2020, but I have the same problem every time. Obviously, it’s not the RdrThread issue, but during a flight with the Fenix, everything works perfectly, and on the way back, it’s a festival: FG artifacts with 20 fps on cruise, etc.
I’m just tired of having to tweak my settings every flight.
I will probably retry with hopefully with a new AM5 system, hopefully. Maybe something wrong was on my hardware with that Rdr thingy, maybe not.
Sorry this isn’t a great answer, I just needed to say it somewhere
Yeah I still don’t understand how it’s supposed to work.
We can clearly see that the VRAM is not saturated, nor the RAM, but yet it is the GPU which is overloaded first, then RdrThread just after. That’s don’t make any sense to me
What drivers were you using?
I had these issues with all the drivers released since the 5000 series released, but also with the 566.36, which was still the most stable.
Currently 576.52
Also tried 565, 565 - nothing help.
I literally tried EVERYTHING.
Reinstall windows, reinstall sim, update/rollback drivers.
Tried different DLSS, everything.
On the ground my fps even in the middle of nowhere - is 10-15 because of RDRThread.
1 second after takeoff - 60-80fps and all flight smooth, untill touchdown on landing.
For me it started on SU2-beta 1.4.14 or 1.4.16
rollback to SU1 release help, but then Asobo release SU2 with this issue.
I tried SU3 beta - same ■■■■, nothing help
I feel your pain. I had something like that at the beginning but lucky me it’s been smooth for a while now.
Have you tried different locations to spawn in? It’s possible MSFS is absolutely choking trying to load (i.e. stream) the textures for a complicated airport and maybe you can work out if that’s the case, or could it be the aircraft?
I’m really not sure of a solid debug process but I’d think about
checking the rolling cache (e.g. reset it, or make it bigger e.g. 128GB, or put it on a faster drive), maybe the cache is nadgered in some way.
rename your Community folder (e.g. Community_old) unless it’s completely empty. MSFS will create a new one and you can copy stuff in if it works.
Try spawning into the same airport in a different plane (e.g. the Cessna 172) and see if it improves if you give the sim time to cache the contents.
Or try spawning the Cessna into a different, simpler, airport
Or try spawning the A320 into a different, basic, airport (like EGSX North Weald UK)
Have you got anything in your community folder? Have you got any add-ons streamed that are not a core part of the sim?
I had a rdrthrd problem when I first tried the SU 2 beta. Turned out it was a few add-ons I had installed not being compatible with the sim after the SU 2 beta dropped. One was from ORBX and another couple were streamed add-ons that slipped in my library without me noticing.
As i said before: I even made full reinstall of Windows and Sim.
Clean windows + clean MSFS2024 - still have this problem.
Most annoying part - 1-2 loading from 10 - i have 50-80 fps on ground with SAME plane and SAME scenery.
I tried to catch what happens - no results.
It’s a program for assigning P and E cores to certain processes. Maybe research that and give it a go?
Or the fact that you have a 14700k CPU could mean that it has become defective or damaged depending on how old it is. Due to the voltages fiasco a while back.
I bought my 14700K in Sept 2024, and within 10 days of installation, I updated the BIOS with the fix for the 13th/14th gen degradation problem.
During my investigation, I also ran multiple stress tests on the CPU, GPU, and RAM using different tools like Prime95, FurMark, etc. - two to three times each. No issues were found.
The key reason I believe the problem lies within MSFS is this:
When I reverted from the SU2 beta to the SU1 release, all performance issues disappeared.
When SU2 went public, the issues came back.
Hardware problems don’t behave like that, as far as I know.
Not to badger you, but a clean install of 2024 will still enable any/all 2024-based 3rd party add-ons obtained via the Marketplace by default.
Be sure to check this if you have gotten anything, free or otherwise, from the Marketplace for 2024.
For example, I have the Zinertek enhanced ground textures add-on and it was being enabled by default and it was turning my GPU graph purple like you are seeing. I disabled it and that stopped it.
That’s the same add-on that kept enabling for me along with enhanced runway lights from a developer I can’t remember the name of right now. It created exactly the issue being described.
There is a change, the previous screenshot showing 10fps HDR was on but in the second screenshot it shows SDR, and your frames increase as a result, something is off somewhere on your system, because either you DID make the change deliberately and there is a problem with your HDR settings, or the system is doing it on its own, again a system problem.
Don’t frustrate yourself chasing your tail here. It’s nothing you’re doing wrong on your end, they need to resolve the issue on their end - it’s as simple as that.
Emptying community folders, deleting addons from the sim, etc, clean reinstalls, process lasso, purchasing third party tools – none of these will help; we’ve tried it all in this thread, just read the replies. Just wait for them to address it if they ever do. I’ve just gone back to 2020 in the interim.
I gave up as well new inibuilds egll used to work perfect now a stuttering mess on vr back to 2020 and perfect . Will say perfect on 2d radar thread killing it in vr tried ultra low settings still a mess
