I don’t understand the benefit of joining people as a group to fly together. After joining a group, the program does not automatically bring us to the same location and I still have to search for my friends on the world map. Once loaded up for flying, there is no special color or highlights for my friend’s plane and the nametag also automatically disappears when we are far apart from one another. So what is the point?
There are multiple ways to use group flying. I think it requires some coordination ahead with your friends to get the experience you want.
No. I understand why I want to fly together with people. I am talking about the “group” feature in game. I don’t see the benefit of using this grouping feature at all. I see no difference using grouping and not grouping while we are both logging in to the same server and at the vicinity of each other.
Are you talking about the multiplayer modes? If so the ‘group-only’ option should exclude all players except those in your group, whereas the other two modes include players, not in your group.

Thanks. That helps. However, I still think MSFS should have some additional features, like highlighting your friends and additional selection to help zoom to your selected friends easier in the group, even in multiplayer mode.
The other thing is that I understand there is no voice feature in the sim. However, may be giving a text messaging options to friends is helpful?

Also the leader of the group can set the time and weather of the flight correct?
So you can do a night flight for instance and everyone has the same settings.
This is a problem I’m having. Yes, we can set the weather, but only a preset or live weather. I cannot make custom weather, its’ grayed out! So we cant practice crazy crosswind landings in low visibility because it wont let either of us change the weather.
