I am a “casual” simmer, but i upgraded from a t16000 hotas, to the honeycomb Yoke and throttle + Thrustmaster TPR one month ago.
I am playing on a 3*24 inch monitor setup, using nvidia surround.
Aaaaaaaannnnnnd i am hooked:-)
But what peripherals would you go for next?
I need to be able to work at my desk aswell, so it needs to be easy to move out of the way.
When it comes to price range it needs to be in the 100-500$ bracket.
A nice 4k 55" tele comes to mind, you could loose the little monitors, until true multimonitor supports get released, and awe in marvel as to how you could of done without such a large pretty monitor in the 1st place ;p
I prefer multi to single large, helps with other entertainment and tasks outside of flightsimming and if we ever get true support and I can tilt two of my set in a little all the better.
get yourself a streamdeck they are amazingingly multifunctional and you can use them when your not flying. amazing devices. I have 2 a 15 button and a 32 button one. check out videos on youtube streamdeck fs2020 there are lots of profiles on flightsim.to to download. the screens here are for my flight instrument sysyem on a separate pc running skyeleite over a home network. A ceiling mounted projector beams fs2020 from my gaming laptop Streamdeck in Flight Sim - YouTube
Depending on what plane you fly for the majority of your time, there are dedicated electronics from companies like RealSimGear.
You could also go the route of smaller touch pannels and a knobster. Run Air Manager and have your steam and glass cockpits at your finger tips and eliminate the need for mouse.
I wouldn’t waste your money on Saitek/Logitech control panels and maybe even a stream deck when you can do the same and much more with Air Manager with much more flexibility too. Get Air manager and a Touch screen or 2, a knobster and you are set.
i was just wondering because the author of this topic stated that budget was a consideration and that the flightsim setup has to be something that doesnt occupy space and takeover. I know knobsters are basically a dual concentric button on an arduino nano. I run browser based skyelite intrument displays on tablets and second pcs over a home network. I have a bluetooth microsoft surface dial that I bought a few years ago and use that to change values on instruments. I experimented with air manager 4 but never found any fs2020 panels that worked for the aircraft I like . I am hoping Asobo and microsoft will develop browser based pfds etc for us homecockpit enthusiasts. popping out instruments is a real performance killer. skyelite has a demo version on their site to test things out.
you must have a behringer x mini somewhere. thats a 35euro midi I use as an an fcu when Im flying the busses. I use axis and ohs to configure the dials and buttons
Even cheaper if you build your own. Yes that’s the good thing about AIr Manager, you can either use everything that’s already there and purchase an official knobster or you can make your own instruments and build your own hardware including a knobster.
I would second the nominations for Stream Deck and Head Tracking of some sort (especially if you don’t have headtracking already)
TrackIR with the Track Clip pro (or an aftermarket IR LED headset like the one from Delan Engineering) works incredibly well. I can not imagine flying any sim without head tracking now.
