Hello!
I would like to ask for help and advice. I plan to buy an RTX 4080 video card. My question is, what kind of Intel processor do you recommend? The most important aspect is that the video card and the processor do not limit each other.

What is your use requirement for your PC?
Unless you have a need for professional productivity or have a favourite game that has been benchmarked to work best on a particular Intel CPU, there is only one recommendation ā AMD Ryzen 7800X3D.
For MSFS, no other CPU comes close.

I want to build a computer for MSFS to work perfectly. 4K resolution with Ultra settings. It is interesting that the Intel processor does not provide adequate performance for MSFS.
Then go for the 7800X3D. No doubt. I paired it with my 4090 about a month ago and never looked back
I can assure you that one will certainly limit the other.
If you insist on Intel then 14700 would seem a sensible choice. Obviously not the absolute fastest but donāt expect youād see much difference with a 14900 in MSFS.
My financial situation is limited. I currently have a frame for an RTX 4080 video card.
From someone who has been flight simming for over 25 years on some very good PCs, there is no such thing as āperfectā when it comes to flight sim.
Buy the best PC and monitor you can afford and donāt put all your settings on ultra. Flight sim is all about the compromises you can live with.
Iām not sticking to the Intel processor. I am asking for your advice and I will follow the suggestion I receive. Thanks
Working perfectly is in the eye of the beholder. You might want to swap your 4080 for a 4090 then. I am running a 7950X3D with a 4090 on an 49" ultrawide. I have MSFS running great with the majority of aircraft that I fly. It is however far from perfect. Hopefully, for MSFS 2024, MS and Asobo come through on the performance enhancements.
Note that also with a 7800X3D plus a 4080/4090 the sim experience will never be perfect ( same with a 14700). You will have a general super smooth exerience but also be prepared to still have minor stutters every now and then especially when approaching heavy payware airports with AI/Vatsim traffic. Get the 7800x3d over the 7950, It will perform better because of the single die architecture. Also consider then an AMD based PC will cost you less money then an Intel based.
You can also go fo a 14700/14900 but the 7800x3d will perform slightly better at a cheaper price and a much lower power consumption.
I was for years running with a i7-4770K and old gtx1070 , decided to refresh my setup with recent gpu (4080 FE), I was also looking for an intel but finally ended by buying an AMD (Ryzen 9 7900x3d, for it extra clock boost and few more core btw probably the 7800x3d is better since the cache isnāt split between multiple cores)
I would say I was scared about setting up such processors with maybe having to use lasso etc, but with all bios and cpu driver up to date, near 1 year after those cpu got released, everything works fine without requiring extra tweak and I m very happy about AMD, it perform well in every task (sim running with OBS for stream, meanwhile doing some file conversion, and having few extra apps running in back ground, I never hit its limits)
note : I play with capped fps to 30, but l m able to fly in middle of NY - time square in ultra and having 60fps (my res 1920*1080)
You ever think about upgrading your monitor? Thatās a lot of system to just run at 1080. You can get those same frames easily in an ultrawide.
yeah yeah and also a velocity one yoke ⦠donāt know where to put my money first ⦠I m still fine with that screen and TAA, donāt see that much aliasing and scared to start upgrading then not being able to roll back, like when you get used to the smoothness of 60 fps
You will be able to do that easily.
If you can return your 4080 think about getting ā4080 Superā. A few weeks back when I was building my 7800X3D system that seemed the most sensible top end choice (unless money really is not an issue).
I went at a lower price point so got the 4070 Super and with everything on Ultra Iām getting over a 100fps using DLSS (F18 fast and low in North Wales).
Utterly brilliant compared to my 6 yeay old system ^^
I just recently built a new system. Iām running a 14900k along with a 4080. In MSFS, all my settings are on Ultra now. Without frame gen, Iāll average 40-50fps on the ground and close to 60+ in flight. With frame gen on (native), Iāll average 50-60fps on the ground, and over 100fps in the air.
The only real difference between 4080 and 4080 Super is the price, though. The 4080S is not even 5% faster, so hardly worth a return.
Go 7800x3D or go home =)
I use a i9-13900K paired with an RTX 4090.
Using a i9-13900K with a 4080 and my performance is the best Iāve ever enjoyed for a flight sim title. With Frame Gen enabled I NEVER have performance issues no matter where I am in the world with the Fenix or PMDG aircraft. Rather than getting sucked into the CPU wars, just get whichever one you feel best about. Both high-end Intel and AMD CPUs handle MSFS just fine⦠you wonāt be disappointed.
