Fair comment. As I mentioned earlier, I just switched back to 2020 this afternoon and chilled out in a 172 flying between small airports in Africa. Everything worked as expected and I really enjoyed it. I thought I’d never use it again but I’ll probably spend more time on that version over the next few weeks than on 2024.
What I enjoy most about something like a flight sim (as probably most simmers do) is learning how things work and then trying to do it as realistically as possible (within reason). So I like to figure out how the GPS works and VORs, radios and so on and be able to get airport data from wherever, put it in the flight plan and feel like I’ve achieved something when I get to where I want to go. For me there’s nothing more frustrating than learning how to do something, and thinking you’re doing things correctly but the game doesn’t respond how you expect. Then you’re not sure if it’s you or if it’s a bug. Immersion just goes out the window and it’s almost the oppsite of sim, if that’s possible. I’m not interested in racing fast jets down the Grand Canyon or whatever.
I’m into my third flight in the 737 max and all have gone well. Vnav doesn’t work so I use FLC or vs. And there’s always disconnuitys and vectors in the flight plan that need clearing but overall I’m enjoying it
Ah right. Funnily enough the detail and textures have been fine - I’ve not personally had any problems with that. The game ‘looks’ good which makes it even more frustrating in a way. My main gripe is the sheer number of problems. I don’t think I’ve had single flight yet that hasn’t had something which hasn’t been right. Some have had several major issues where you just think what the hell were they thinking releasing this?
I might give Free Flight a whirl then. Haven’t tried it yet. My experience with the EFB hasn’t been great so far though. Maybe it’s more an issue with the career missions.
Free flight and the challenge league have worked very well for me so far.
Free flights are working well for me. I don’t use the EFB’s, so not a thing for me. The mouse issue is an easy work around with Esc out and Esc in to get the mouse back. Settings are about the same for me, and I haven’t turned on the FPS counter yet. Once you get all your controls mapped again, ugh, it’s clear sailing.
