I am wondering how the compatibility of existing modules is going to work. Will modules have to be re-purchased from the Marketplace? The reason I ask is that I have a Standard copy from the MS Store, and the Premium Deluxe version from Steam. If I decide to buy 2024 from the MS Store, can I import my marketplace modules from both my Steam and Store copies?
This was put out on day one of the announcement and is in the FAQ:
Will all purchases users have made from the Marketplace be transferrable to the new simulator?
With very few exceptions, virtually all add-ons that work in Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) today will function in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Add-ons that were purchased from the in-simulator Marketplace will not need to be re-purchased in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
It’s not a matter of importing but that you don’t have to repurchase. The Community folder is still central to their folder structure moving forward so I imagine just copying and pasting and making sure your Marketplace product isn’t on the “very few exceptions” list.
Yes, and thanks! But, if I want to get off Steam and move to the MS Store version, I have only 2 or 3 purchased modules in the Store version but dozens in my Steam version. Can I move to the Store version, and get my Steam modules into 2024?
Any reason to move to the Store version? It seems to have more issues than Steam, at least from account issues I’ve seen on here.
Steam just seems to sell credits, when then get used in the Marketplace.
Steam version is just a wrapper around the MS version, the only real difference is how you download the launcher, but downloading updates and the content manager are exactly the same.
The new Steam client was getting on my nerves, but it seems to be saving my settings okay now. I suspect if you buy 2024 from the Store you will get your Store modules, and if you buy from Steam you will get your Steam modules. It’s an edge case, so likely not too many simmers have two copies. I did that for Beta testing.
I actually haven’t used the Store version. But I think there are a few differences in profile management and licensing management. I remember people on the store version were having issues with profiles getting lost/corrupted and other issues were they were prompted to insert a CD (as if it were 1999). That was a year + back so hopefully those are no longer a thing.
The only pain being on the Steam version are most modding instructions are written for the Store version.
I keep seeing reading 7800x3d 4090, 7950x3d 4090, 10900 4090, 13600 4080, 5800x3d 4070 users having issues with performance. I hope you guys will do great improvements with multithreading for them. This can be the best gift to community with msfs 2024. I wanted to switch to pc before but always gave up after seeing different results and issues on forums youtube etc.
Updated satellite imagery for terrain mapping so I no longer have to use the mod which shall not be named? I think some of the Bing maps are what, 10 years out of date?
i want white Clouds not a volcanic ash.
Yes that is a disappointment, having seen videos and screenshots from the release it seems the clouds depiction has gone downhill which is a shame. Currently it’s like flying through constant volcano ash at times which just looks incorrect.
Tail numbers on the Daher. We had them a year or two ago: now we don’t. How hard can it be?!
what I wish :
-
Radio VOR degradation signal effects like in all Black square Steam gauge overhaul aircraft, and real needles behaviors (inertia) in all stock aircraft
-
control profil automatically matching the aircraft being selected
-
Better implementation of the beta range on turbo prop and other kind of aircraft
-
no more blinking square / terrain LOD issues like those that can be experienced above the switzerland / alps
another activitie I suggest :
aviation advertisement around beaches, and events location
What I think some people want is people to look at more addons (freeware) and stop suggesting things that mods already have in the default game….Flight sims are built on addons
I could swear clouds used to look quite amazing about a year and a half ago? I’m not sure if it’s just my imagination having gotten used to things and expecting more?
Like I remember flying around in stunning clouds, seeing the rainfall, sunlight and shadows highlighting the clouds, rainbows, etc. It used to be breathtaking in the right conditions, especially in VR.
FORCE FEEDBACK SUPPORT!!!
Its time MS bring out a new MS Sidewinder Force Feedback 3 Stick.
Its time xbox had a good fight stick. A proper tool not a toy. Yes i know there is Turtle Beach but a Hotas that is fit for purpose would be great.
COME ON THRUSTMASTER GIVE CONSOLE THE WARTHOG
We need appropriately sized airport beacons for smaller airports. Maybe 3 sizes would probably be fine.
I worked at an airport with a 2100 ft. paved runway and our beacon was attached to a pole on top of a 1 story building.
I don’t think we’ll ever see force feedback again unless Microsoft partners with a hardware developer on an Xbox compatible controller.
Are there any racing games have force feedback on the Xbox? I know they exist on the PC.
100% this. Also need several sizes of control towers. I’ve flown into so many airports with little 50’ towers versus the gargantuan 250’ towers we often see in the sim.
