it works half decent in my area which somehow bing has a better image than google or arcgis, but it takes literally 5 hours to prepare a small route i frequently fly.

negative, using a mouse to view around, i quit msfs for 6 months due to this bug which didnt even appear until SU5. Now ive built a headtracker using an MPU6050 and a ratsnest of code from basicaly everyone else who has tried to make it work. it drifts a bit over time but mreh… better than rolling inverted while trying to scan a LZ.

That’s part of my point I should have tried to better explain.
It take forever to select an area if your want Hi-res.
The Sim should let us select a mass amount of area (say New York) and then ask the user ‘what resolution would we like to download’. The way it is now, it’s backwards.

yea, every airport ive ever been to uses their unicom for control but apparently some do use a seperate channel for control. seems like it would just add to task saturation inessentially to have to switch it up. X-plane 11 was great for this.

Exactly what are you referring to here? Did devs make their models part of the base game? First party planes sold exclusively through marketplace don’t count.

That will only work if the addon is sold via marketplace ( which I agree most of them are). But also will need base game update everytime a dev releases a product. The update itself might be very small, but still it will be needed. And still you would have the problem of livery matching. I know many add-ons have seperate low poly models to be used for AI traffic. But just having that is not the same.

I’m inclined to agree, ChatGPT in its current form is too flighty to be a good ATC.

However, if a similar model was given “training” based on recorded ATC comms and restricted on what it could actually say, we might have a good idea. Will it happen in this sim version? Almost certainly not. At least not an official implementation. But it has potential I think!

My requests are much more basic and basically asking the Sim to go back to where it was unfortunately!

  1. Improve the AI and Simconnect issue resulting in AI planes disappearing on return flight and in general (this was working fine before SU12). AI was working pretty well in FS2004! It’s sad to see that after 20 years we don’t have a good AI traffic with this Sim.
  2. Add cloud turbulence in live weather! Right now there is barely any turbulence in clouds even in storms using the live weather (this was working pretty good when the Sim was released, lots of turbulence in clouds).
  3. Improve the performance! The Sim performance is getting worse and worse! I have a relatively good system and I am noticing more deterioration of fps over time specially playing the Sim over a few hours! What happened? I thought the memory leaks were fixed! And why isn’t DX12 out of the beta?
  4. Improve cloud textures! They looked beautiful when the Sim was released and we went downhill after that (SU5 or so?)!
  5. Blocky ground texture and loading in front of our eyes! Must be the server issue and is a more recent problem! Hope it gets fixed.
  6. Airport lights! Runway and taxiway lights should not be on all day! This was not an issue in the past flight simulators!
  7. Improve ATC! Hard to do but hopefully they will come up with a way to make it more realistic.

Priority performance improvents and stability improvents for begin.

An overhaul to ATC and a decent UI for replays and reviewing these missions.

I’d like them to use fancy new AI to remove all the trees on the thresholds of runways.

Especially the ones where you check Bing Maps immediately afterwards and THEY DON’T ACTUALLY EXIST!!!

A normal benchmark for 2024 and in the long run a special one that tests different settings in order to determine what bottlenecks the sim on a pc would be great. Including a comparison with the results of other users’ hardware such that the user can determine what upgrading which parts of their system to what other parts would get them in terms of performance.

STOP CALLING AI, AI. This sim does NOT use Artificial Intelligence.

AI with ATC: it is scripted with a queue of input and output. If ATC were AI, it would learn and grow with experience. It is the same bla, bla since day one except worse over time. Good day!

AI for landing/takeoff queue? How about having AI tell pilots to SPACE/PACE themselves to prevent all the GO-AROUND events. This could also enable AI vectored traffic avoidance. Departure vectoring to first waypoint or waypoint skipping (i.e. proceed to waypoint/destination).

AI with “AI Assistance” is still causing problems, lost communications and get approved taxi and take off before I even start the engine.

AI with auto-generated airports does not accurately create airports. And, we know airports are not re-generated over time. They become static.

AI with vehicles on the airport… Not learning when to get the f… out of our way.

ONE SIMPLE UPDATE process. One notification that an update is available and ONE update - ALL option.

A few small things, which I’ve given up hope of seeing in 2020:

  • A proper pause option, like we had in FSX
  • On screen indication of sim rate
  • A way to remove HUD with a single click/button push
  • When saving a flight, it should also save the plane’s configuration (loaded flight plan, autopilot settings, etc…)

Physically correct simulation of the flight behavior of a helicopter with a payload that is suspended from a winch and therefore behaves like a pendulum.

  • I’d second a sim rate icon. It’s a silly & simple thing not to have without getting an addon for.
  • A proper & easy to use replay system with various camera set-ups.
  • Rivers & lakes that aren’t just the same colour as the sea. It’s a shame to have such vibrant colours missing from well known rivers & lakes.
  • Not sure if it would even be possible. Efforts probably spent much better elsewhere but it’d also be cool to see rivers that flow. If it could be done, that’d have to be part of a world update thing.
