What Will WorkingTitles Announcement Be Today On DEV Stream?

From what I understand, FBW are currently using their own FMS that’s a customized version of the old WT system. And it works quite well.

But it’s certainly possible they customized it to a point they won’t have to. Much like Fenix and PMDG have their own custom systems.

It’s really very simple and that’s why it’s not a big deal that there isn’t native Simbrief integration.

  1. Setup Simbrief downloader - this is download, install, enter your SB user/pass, and tell the downloader (by clicking on clearly labelled options) what flight plans you want to download. If it’s just for MSFS (and not P3d, XP, Custom planes etc), you have to select just one option. This is a one time thing that you will not have to do again unless you delete it/reformat etc.

  2. Plan your flight in SB as usual

  3. Once you hit “Generate Flight Plan” in SB, the downloader will automatically download the .pln file and put it in the correct directory

  4. In the World Map Planner, hit space, and choose “Load from this PC”. You may have to hit the space bar twice.

  5. In the standard windows file dialog that opens, select the flight plan. You can recognize it from the name and date. For example - “CYYZKATL_MFS_07Mar23.pln”

  6. Hit load and that’s it. Now when you load into your flight, this plan will be in the FMC.

It sounds like a lot when you read it like this, but in reality it’s very very quick - Plan flight, load flight, hit Fly.

Oh, and you can plan the flight after MSFS loads, you don’t have to exit the program and go back. Just alt-tab into your browser and that’s it.

I really haven’t felt the lack of native integration thanks to this method.

I use this method when needed, and I agree it’s not onerous.

I would just rather not lose cool features that became very useful.

And the inconsistency with it being in the A310 but not allowed in other standard planes is a little annoying.

These are minor quibbles, however.

Fair points, and I agree with you. It can be done better.

Just watched today’s dev stream and I’m almost in tears…

The 787 is going to finally be updated!!! Thank you Matt and Working Title. Wow.

Just wanted to publicly say thank you Matt and Working Title and MS/Asobo. Can’t wait for an updated, more complex 787. June can’t come soon enough.

Woo hoo!

They’re doing it up right too! No messing’ around.

Those displays look amazing and the systems depth/features are fantastic. I think the beta will start on May 15th.

The 747 is getting much needed love as well.

Wondering if there’s anyway Asobo/WT can fill out the product line with the -8/-9, since they’re refining the real performance data on the -10 already.

In todays Dev’s stream Matt was the guest and gave us great news that both the Asobo 787 and 747 are getting an overhaul. From flight dynamics to system functions such as RNAV VNAV, full functionality and flybywire base. Meaning we’ll really get to enjoy these planes as they were intended to fly and function. Updates will be available in June.

Looking forward to this!!! The 787 has been sitting in my hangar since day one.

Man you’ve been missing out. While I’m happy to see Working Title throwing in some love and taking the reigns of bringing the 787 up-to-date past what the default aircraft/Asobo updates have offered there’s been a relatively functioning 787 mod for quite awhile that has most of these systems working just not at the depth that WT will bring it up to but more than default.

OMG THIS IS A DREAM COME TRUE. I FLY THE 787 DAILY AND I AM SO HAPPY TO SEE THIS!!!

Side note, can we update the exterior lights of the 787 to reflect the accuracy of the strobes and beacons??

TYSM WT!!!

If they’re planning to update the model I wouldn’t see why that wouldn’t be included or expected. Already a light fix on Flightsim.to for awhile as well.

Hello! I’m on the xbox platform so unfortunately I’m stuck with only marketplace mods and rely heavily on MS/Asobo/WT to update the default airliners.

Fair enough. Would be interesting or nice if maybe they could consider adding which platform a user is on next to their username so that people don’t have to guess or make a spreadsheet. Example like UpstateElf898 PC or something.

Cannot wait, absolutely love the 787 Dreamliner in the game and in real life! It is the reason I bought the Premium Deluxe version, and being on Xbox Series X, I obviously do not get the mods that make this (and other planes) a much better version than default.

there will be items WT will not do, like simbrief, navigraph charts, boarding procedures, failures, state saving, jump to lext waypoint.
but highly apprechiate WT of course.

Ah yeah, it sounds like its kinda the same, but as ingamepanel. In the end you have to load the plan in the fmc anyway. But sounds like its an ingamepanel instead of an external app. But i have to read about it then

But they stated they’re implementing Flybywire code which tells me they would be included?

Pretty sure that doesn’t mean the modding/development group that named themselves “Fly By Wire,” but the actual technology called “fly by wire,” (or FBW), the concept of not using mechanically-linked cables, hydraulics, etc. to connect controls with control surfaces, but instead using sensors and computers to mediate the physical controller inputs by the flight crew and the motion of the control surfaces in response.
