What's a respectable, reasonably priced video card for MSFS?

I looked at that and the first thing I noticed was that the view was hazy, lacked detail and had limited visibility.

A better test (IMHO) is clear and unlimited visibility, between 1500-3000’ AGL, an external POV, and a continuously changing POV (sightseeing) as this is what really stresses things for me in X-Plane 11.

When I looked at GeForce RTX 3060 vs Radeon RX 6700 XT 5, one thing leaped out at me:  The frame rates for MSFS weren’t all that different, being about 40-or-so FPS for both cards.

It also appears that the data-width isn’t the constraining factor in this particular test, since frame rates were virtually identical.

Unfortunately, without knowing more about the test, I don’t know what the constraining factors might be.

At least within the X-Plane world, larger video memory allows for more detailed and larger texture maps to be used more rapidly, potentially increasing frame rates - and there are some plane models that require a minimum of 8gb of GPU memory.

I mention this because I also want to fly X-Plane as well as MSFS, so I need to keep both happy.

There are some YouTube sites that talk about video cards - and they are mentioning that VRAM size can, and will, become a significant factor for AAA rated games like MSFS.

Note that I am not trying to argue with you folks.  I really appreciate all your help and advice.

What I am trying to do is use your advice and see what I find too - and return the information I find back to you.

Bottom line is that this has been a real education for me, and I found resources that I wish I had known about when I was specifying the build I have now.

Not to mention a HUGE shout-out and MASSIVE thanks to everyone who has helped here!!
