What's the best way to use satellite images for airport development (reference only)?

Hi everyone,

I’m venturing in customizing some airports but I’m struggling with the satellite imagery as reference. Some have the default game aerial outdated, others have it modified with baked-in aprons. I wanted to import other ones, even updated Bing ones just as reference for creating stuff, not even for actual use as aerial.

Is there a practical way of doing this? That is not creating custom aerials?

Thanks in advance.

I would use a Projected Mesh
You need anyay to have a reliable georeference, so the time spent to make it work is more or less the same as a secondary aerial
Blender-Gis add-on is an option to consider, to have a proper scale you need some real world measurement (e.g. the length of the runway), so you can scale the PM accordingly

I have a tutorial explaining the blender his tool

MSFS SDK Tutorial - Episode 6 - Fences (and normals, arrays and live glFT edit!) - YouTube

To export the texture to the sim you may need to resize it to the allowed images size (longer side length must be multiple of four)
