For example, in Ukraine there’s Dnipro Acc which extends infinitely upward from 0 feet AGL, and it covers many uncontrolled airports in the region. In the sim I can’t find a way to let the controller know I intend to land at one of them once I have requested clearance to transition the charlie airspace. I’m forced to just leave the control frequency and tune to the airport frequency without letting the controller know. I would assume this is not the correct way to do it IRL. Am I supposed to be filing an IFR flightplan to do this, or is the sim just missing the ATC option for it?
It’s missing the option. AI ATC is not great, at least the one included with the game. Maybe if you file an IFR flight plan you can force the AI to give you a hand-off, but in VFR it’s most likely not very well programmed.
