What's this in White Sands, New Mexico?

Flying out of Hollman AFB I came across a number of large flat buildings. I can’t see them on Goolge Earth or Bing! Fly 14nm, course 285 from Hollman (KHMN). What do you think it is?

.

Nothing more than the autogen getting confused about stuff.

Yep, see similar misplaced buildings in the middle of agricultural fields. It’s reading a fairly solid color change as a building.

Also happens with concrete pads (like helipads) at airports.

If you’re just west of highway 213, and intersects WsMr P/ Rt2, it’s the White Sands Missile Range.
And there’s other stuff out there, too.

Little Navmap comes up with this at the exact(ish) coordinates:

It’s part of the White Sands Missile Range, just west of the white sands national park… awkwardly funny, if you walk too far into the park…

I’m just guessing there’s some buildings out there for the flyboys to practice dropping their ordinance at.

The base that Habu is on about is actually to the south-west of the Holloman AFB… i actually drove there, as i wanted to see if i could visit the Missile museum mentioned on Habu’s map (top right)… but, since it’s a militairy base, and i’m not from the USA, i thought it better to turn around.
(and didn’t see any snakes, btw)

The WSMR is vast and actually encompasses both parts - the base and surrounding test and launch facilities on the southwest corner, and the various impact areas to the north (as well as elsewhere). The big runway complex is the old space harbor, which was a backup landing site for the Space Shuttle (and actually used once as such in the early 80’s).

There are buildings scattered throughout the range, especially near the base and the space harbor, but nothing like what’s shown in OP’s post, which is the result of an AI hallucination.

In the early days of the internet white sands was a substantial public access file repository, not sure how official that was…

Can’t help to think when yer driving there, that the lights might not be working and your rental might be picked up as a moving target?

but yeah, i agree with the Ai hallucination.

Those runways near the terminus of the line is Stallion Army Airfield…definitely not a target!! LOL Not far from there is a GEODSS site (really not a target!!). GEODSS used to go by another name when I may/may not have been there, but you can find info on it in open source Wikipedia. Look under United States Space Surveillance Network.
