What's this?

Found this in the sky at Belfast? Any idea what it is? Never been there before each time I’ve flown around there. Using the SU14 update.

Same on the opposite side too

Northern lights?

Too far south.

An invasion of aliens?

Searchlights? Take the drone over there and see what it is.

I suppose you could clean your monitor to see whether this goes away, it is possible but unlikely the monitor may be dying!

Not that because it’s the same on my other monitor.

This is it from altitude. It looks like a rainbow as it goes to the other side.

I’ve seen similar to this before. In my case it was the interior lighting bleeding through holes in the exterior model. I forget what plane though. Old age and all that. But I was fixed in a later release.

Apologies, I will try to reproduce the effect tonight and dig a little deeper in to this. Hope this is not result of the most recent improvements/update etc.

I would bet this is a terrain elevation LOD glitch. In the past something similar produced that some scenery lights were floating in the air. I remember one case near Madrid some months ago where terrain resulted in a pyramid that was visible for several weeks. As you approached it the terrain LOD changed and the pyramid was gone. The colors look like the ones used at generic street lights.

You could check if that´s the case there by approaching the area with drone camera. If the artifact vanishes as you come closer then it´s that error again. During daytime you may see the terrain artifact clearly, so you can try to change simulator time too.

Cheers

Northern Lights visible in Anglesey (UK) earlier this week, also visible in Norfolk according to my daughter. She wasn’t impressed having just spent a fortune on a week in Norway specifically to view the aurora.

Is that Belfast Aldergrove? I’m guessing so as it’s Easy Jet. If I remember rightly from my time there with the RAF there was a ‘Cloud base’ light on the mil side of the airfield, shines almost vertically upwards to illuminate the cloud base.
