What's up with Live Weather

Maybe the MS severs aren’t optimised for gigabit transfers. They have to ‘serve’ a lot of users with limited resources. I suggest you speak to a networking expert, there’s always the chance they can provide a solution.

Gigabit transfers? What are you on about? I’m running msfs, not transferring gigabits.

Oh, and I am a networking expert. Why else would I have my internet connecton through my own server in a hosting centre?

So then you will know what to do. I consider my own MSFS performance as proof positive that perfect simming is possible.

And OK I’ll rephrase that to gigabit exchanges then. My point still stands about server location, as an expert you should do a trace.

Edit: Something to think about is although I’m on often at all times of day or night I don’t really do uber-long flights and I usually close the sim inbetween. I’m not sure if that means anything though.

Interesting find today. Normally I have MSFS running on open internet from Canada. Today I had my VPN turned on and connected to a Seattle server and live weather loads every single time.

Canada! … I have a mental picture of low snow laden cables between rickety telegraph poles and and an old man in a log cabin tapping away on a morse machine

What are you on about? Gigabit exchanges? Is this a word salad competition?

Just because you don’t see a problem doesn’t mean there isn’t a problem.

And yes, I do know what to do: wait until MS sort out their server capacity issues. Of course this will come and go.

Ah well there’s always the presets … enjoy

Presets for weather, playgroup offline voices for ATC, but no workaround for Insert Game Disk

I can say with a good amount of certainty that this is a location based server issue. I’m in Alberta Canada and 90% of the time with a direct connection live weather never loads, even in the map screen.

If I connect my VPN to a US based server (Seattle) live weather loads in thmao screen and in the flight instantly 100% of the time.
