What's wrong with MSFS 2024? Be specific

nothing about bad textures quality and night lightning issues

as of today, one week in, the servers seem to be running stable but still somewhat slow… this means blurred textures, melted buildings and incomplete cockpits

its not clear if the cache system is doing anything, worsening the above problem

numerous bugs in the career/activity system

the aircraft have way too many bugs, even supposed powerhouses like the 737 max… not some obscure model no one knows about

in my view (but i know i’m alone in this one) the flight model is worse than 2020

there is a vram bug that makes it very hard to use the sim if you have less than 16gb (recently logged)

there are a million other little nuances but they are not problems per se, just bad decisions, like the woosh animations everywhere

2020 was never this bad. Infinite flight on the ipad runs 1000x better than this

A lot of ppl here either didn’t experience MSFS2020 from the onset or simply forgot the fundamental issues from the get go. It took to Sim update 5 (or 7?) until I could fly without any random crashes. I literally walked away for about 2months. C152 was the only working plane, imho, for a very long time. After day3 now, I’ve had no crashes and no issues loading MSFS2024. I like to new controller setups, career mode is a great feature (with it’s own flaws), I’m not getting stuttering, graphics are fundamentally better…I could go on and on. But I think this is the Flight Simulator we ALL wanted. It comes with it’s own growing pains, of course, but this way more polished at release. MSFS2020 release was a Beta, and that’s being nice.

I think you’ve been lucky with your experience, many others have not. Many users, especially xbox users, still cannot even load the game over a week since launch. Many others are dealing with game breaking bugs.

For sure there’s glimpses of promise in the new game but it’s pre-beta quality for most users.

Some forgets what the state of 2020 when it was launched, but yes 2024 needed 6-8 month to be ready and playable for all

For a quick answer I would say that 90% of what was announced is present in the game, but all of this is clearly 50% finished:

Stability: on 60h of playing I only experienced 1 CTD (and I do 4 to 10h sessions), performance is 10% better or similar than 2020
Loadings (except day one… oops) are now so fast, you got a 2-3min one at start, that’s all, after that I never wait more than 15sec to do anything

Visuals: 2024 is visually really good, clouds has been improved, seasons are really coherent, live snow coverage is awesome and realistic, rain is bit better, 3D rocks and mountains (not all) are so better
But textures still has servers problem, sometime it’s just ok and sometimes its blurry as hell
The new “ground system” is solid, real improvement for bush flying, you really can’t land anywhere and it looks really good when really go close to the ground (at least better than being at 4000ft)
Trees and vegetation looks really really better but 50% are oversized, it has to be fix in the future
No major issue for me on photogrammetry, same as 2020

Flight model: for me some points has been improved and some others are horribles: it becomes hard or impossible to stall any plane or do some special maneuver that it was possible to do in 2020, It’s a big regress, I understand that’s 2024 is getting more “new simmer friendly” but It’s just too much

Planes: almost all planes has several issues, some makes just the things unflyable, especially the ones from asobo or microsoft, I thinks got friends did a good job

Career: the career is playable and can be enjoyable, but there is issues everywhere with everything:
Weather is crazy and never coherent with the briefing mission, says IFR when it’s VFR, says it’s not live weather when it is, you never know what weather you will fly
No night missions for the moment (a big surprise when you see there is a night certification…)
EFB is 30% usable, generating automatic routes is not working (weird compared to the official live planner), for the moment it’s just not possible to plan perfectly a flight in correlation of your mission
ATC is totally broken, I didn’t thinks it can be worse than 2020… Impossible to go IFR even when I send my IFR flight plan to ATC, so now for advanced mission I just don’t use it anymore and loosing money for that
Aviator’s performance system is good on the paper, but so buggy and punitive, that’s just leads to big frustration when you try hard a flight and getting punished for things you didnt do
Assurance doesn’t works, never refunding you if you brake something on plane
Maybe 25-30 planes available for missions but even in mid/late game but you just use 10 because thats the only ones avalaible, some of the differents trailers are just missing…
Rewards balance is strange on some points, but realistic on others

Concerning the UI I’m maybe the only one to like the new one (except in career), things are clear, I like the binding UI (exept the profile management)

So yes this 2024 edition needed more month of work, everything on the paper is for me really what we all wanted since forever for a flight sim, even with 2020, but not ready at all, it’s clearly an open beta version, It’s ok but price was really high

Communcation since launch is not great, I thinks a lot and a lot of minor issues can be fixed live now most of the people are able to play

Hopes for the 9th december patch…

Yes mines now much better but still at present graphic scenery quality wise 2020 kills 2024

It will take a bit of time best to run 2020 for now till they iron it out few years lol

Im sure itll all be ironed out a year from now like 2020. smh

Well I was so looking forward to trying the SF340B as I flew it for many years at Mesaba Airlines.

Well, I have no menu to ask for a pushback with the SAAB.

Can’t input a flight plan, as any line past line select 2 does nothing.
Can’t add runway to select a LOC or departure or arrival procedure.

That is, without all the graphical glitches such as AI planes upside down or jet bridges floating in the air.

Dismissively devaluing other users experiences and opinions just because they are negative only makes your own praise for the game look disingenuous.

Being passive aggressive isn’t being positive, just stick to posting what you personally enjoy and what parts are better than 2020 for you, that is useful information for people like me who have thus far stuck with 2020 and are watching from the side lines .

I wish you good fun watching from the sidelines. Someone else might give you the info you need that justifies your perspective.
