Interestingly, I’ve noticed something. I have two computers connected to my router through the same GB switch. I have a 450MB/sec Comcast connection, that I’ve never seen go less than 450MB/sec using the internet speed test (I don’t know how accurate it is).
The day before WU6 I installed MSFS on the new computer I’m setting up. I was surprised to see it downloading at 40 to 50MB/sec. After a period, it jumped up to 105 MB/s. In the past, on my other computer, I’ve usually gotten download speeds on the order of 150MB/s during installs of MSFS
When WU6 came out, the 2.67 GB and 5 GB installs each installed in about 5 minutes.
The next day, I installed the update on my new computer, and, again, super slow download speeds, it took forever to download the update. I have no idea what the difference is. I suppose I could try a different ethernet cable?
My old computer is an MSI Gaming 5 with an i7-4790K/16GB/RTX2070. The new computer is an MSI Z590 MAG PRO Wifi with an i7-11700K/64GB/MB graphics (I haven’t switched over the 2070 to it yet, since it’s near impossible to get graphics cards at reasonable prices these days). You’d think the newer board would be faster at downloading, if only slightly.
