I have been experiencing similar issues and found it to be related to controller configurations. Unfortunately, I have not managed to specifically identify exactly what the actual cause is. I suspect there is some kind of bug or design flaw that is related to the “apply to all aircraft” option. Pretty much a guess, but I am wondering if this is causing a CTD when an assignment is applied to an aircraft that does not have/need a specific assignment.
This has been a prevalent issue for me and has effected mainly helicopters. That is, I was was experiencing a repeatable CTD when I tried to use the filter to only show helicopters. This appeared to be linked to what control assignments I had made. But as I say I could not pin-point the actual issue.
At one point this issue actually caused the sim to CTD every time I clicked on the bug yellow start button when loading the sim. The only way I found around this was to delete my cloud based data for the sim. The downside of that was clearing my logbook and wiping my controller configurations.
There seems to be an issue when trying to load the same aircraft you used the last time. Try selecting another aircraft and livery before switching back to the one you want.
