When I turn on POI, I get these weird geodesic domes. Anyone know what causes this?

Here’s a snap of the view with POI turned on. I was trying to use the world POI for USA from flightsim.to and this is what I got. I’ve had this before with no mods. All other mods are disabled.

Maybe the USA POI mod is causing the issue?

I removed all mods except the JF-pa-28 and I still get them. I also get them when I enable view airports or cities on the assistance menu. I can’t figure it out and I looked at many graphic options. It must be something simple but I don’t know what.
I have an Nvidia 3080 at 1440 on a 34 inch wide screen Monitor using gsync (I assume) , if that makes any difference.

Do you still get them when you hide everything. Like set assist to Hard/True to Life to get rid of any UI.

Just turn off developer mode

I think I found the problem…I had POI ‘on’ in the options in Developer mode. I have no idea when I did this.
Yikes what a dumb mistake.

who’d have thought it? :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t worry, you aren’t the first. It’s amazing what the mind forgets at times.

In developer mode this happens when you copy GUID’s from other stuff. In this case, someone picked up a GUID from a POI marker. Al POI markers will then be shown as that object. Sometimes funny things occur with bad quality community stuff. Unintended doubles. Also there are cases where a GUID was re-used in Asobo scenery and that is a really silly bug. For example, the SimpleScenery example in the SDK refers to a giant building, instead of the small cube that is intended to be displayed. That is because the developer of some big building started out modifying the little cube of SimpleScenery, without changing its GUID. So anyone who opens the SDK SimpleScenery starts out with that a big building, instead of a small example cube. Tip: when you start scenery importing your objects in ModelLib, do not re-use GUID’s from anywhere, and if you do, always change a little thing in them. To keep them unique… In Blender I always set generate a new GUID for objects I export.
