The Garmins will take a long time. Regardless of this week’s announcements, anyone familiar with how Garmins should operate at even a high level understood instinctually that this is a material effort that will likely span months if not years.
The WT Partnership has a lot of parts of have happened - namely, the team had to form a company, make individual decisions about their current livelihood, and doubtlessly had to negotiate with MS-Asobo during that time through legal and corporate means on a mutually agreeable arrangement - both work and expected compensation.
Having watched many of these JVs from my day job over the years, that’s weeks, sometimes months of work. Just to get the literal paperwork done.
In the meantime, if the deal looks like it’s going to be consummated, why spend cycles internally on Nav Units if you’re literally bringing in the Pros from Dover?
More importantly, given WU3 delay, there wasn’t anyone left on deck to work on Nav Units even if Asobo wanted to in the interim.
