Where are the beautiful fields shown in the trailer?

The image in your post is of the A330 Cockpit, the shadow issue is only with the A320NeoV2. The A321Neo knobs also cast shadows fine.

Here’s a screenshot I took of the A330. Also note the shadows are just as sharp as they are in the trailer.

That was an issue with their flight recording program, it was explained in a Dev Q&A certain animations weren’t recorded/replicated when played back. I believe that also happens with the flight recorder in 2020

Go to Gibraltar. Stand by for ship chaos

Is that rapeseed field not just drawn in for a mission? Like all the mission based stuff its something that just exists for the duration of the mission and not something you should expect to see in free flight, sadly.

Yeah lets hope so. So much of what I was excited for in FS2024 seems either broken, not improved or only very marginally improved. I’m totally underwhelmed by the default seasons feature of FS2024. Considering how long its been asked for and how much they’ve spoken at length about wanting to do it properly as a base feature for the sim I was expecting much more from it. It just seems so half baked. I’m a big supporter of Bijan’s seasons mod but to be honest I wasn’t expecting to still be relying on it for FS2024.

That does seem to be Asobo and MS’s business model now though. Provide a bare bones feature and then let others charge again for developing it properly.

but i wonder what happens if one flies to the same location in free flight mode?

i havent touched the career mode, really not my thing, but if anyone can advise on the location of that mission i would be grateful

Maybe a EU customer protection agency thinks different.
It would in any case good if this is adressed by the EU.

Hey, they could fine Microsoft and then give the money to Aerosoft to subsidies more Airbus add-ons!

Yeah I haven’t either. I’m up for giving it a go at some point but there’s so many nightmare stories of bugs that I’ll wait until its all a lot more stable.

The location looks a bit like it could be northern Italy, Tuscany maybe? Have many people even done the crop spraying missions? I don’t seem to read or see much about them.

Ag Spraying is pretty much all I have done, a few bugs but once you know the pit falls I find it pretty stable to have fun and progress.

Maybe there isn’t much posted because most of the posts are from annoyed and frustrated people doing other career choices, understandably with the associated soul destroying bugs…

You’d be a good person to tell us whether you’ve seen fields like in the trailer? And if so where were they located?

pretty please?

Yes, I believe they shoot the trailer in 4k probably at 4 FPM and they compile them for the trailer at 30 FPS.

I purchased a custom rendition of SFO and there are very nice flowers between the runways when running at Ultra everything at 4 FPS.

I have also gone to the place in Yosemite where they shot that trailer image and found nothing (I used to climb there 50 years ago). Neither El Cap (which I climbed in 1972) nor El Cap meadows look like the trailer.

You do get the tire marks in the grass from taxing but lookit El Cap!

No Elk/Deer but I did find a bear off the end of the runway in Fresno, taxied over there in a B-787.

Do you have photogrammetry on? They valley is done up in photogrammetry. If you have it off, the rockfaces won’t look the same as it does in the trailer.

I haven’t checked yet in Retail (loading up the sim now), but in the Tech Alpha the rockface looked the same as it did in the trailer.

Edit: I see what it is, the custom modelled cliff face from the USA world update is overlapping the new photogrammetry in the valley
You can’t manually disable individual POIs, so you’d need to disable the entire POI package

Here is what it should look like in 2024 with the POI disabled:

There’s a bunch of trees in Retail that weren’t in the alpha or trailer

2024 Retail:

2024 Tech Alpha

Trailer, obviously

My two cents on this - I believe there is something not activated for seasons. Flying over the south east of England you can see lots of brown fields with what looks like rendered plough markings, rather than just a satellite image - if you get close you can see a 3d rendered ridge to them. I believe these fields are supposed to change colour throughout the seasons to match the crop growth, but this isn’t working for some reason. The crops in these fields look like they take their colour from the underlying texture. They do grow, but they are brown all the time. In fact the only fields that are green are ones with just grass. All crop fields seem to be brown which correlates with them being part of the seasons system, but something isn’t working properly.

Well, you really studied this.

I do have photogrammetry on.

More distant view:

I actually appreciate it as I spent several summers in the Valley climbing. This is the El Cap story from 1972.

You can see why I appreciate that particular view.

Yeah, the head crafted POI is spawning on top of it. You have to go into the library and disable the first USA World update’s POI package.

Yeah, it’s exactly that.

I do not see a POI package. All I have are:

Click the arrow on the right of World Update II

Then click on it and hit disable

Thanks, I think it worked! Looks a lot better but unfortunately when I fly up close the detail of the various crack systems of climbing routes is not there, but heck from a distance it looks good.

I noticed that there were some airports in there and looked for my local ones (Palo Alto and SFO) but saw none. Was hoping there would be overlap with a special one I bought for SFO and I could improve performance.

Anyway, thanks for the help! Have yet to see any bears in the Valley… they used to be quite common in Camp 4.

that’s still the custom POI model
