Where are the MSFS configuration files located?

The “Uninstall” does not delete your “Installed Packages” (170GB).
These are in the Community and Official Folders.
My UserCfg.opt files indicates mine is in: ‘InstalledPackagesPath “D:\FS2020”’

Save your Community Folder by renaming it Community1.

It just will delete the boot files on your C: (or boot) drive (1.xxGB).

When you reinstall, the download program will install the initial 1.xxGB
on your C: (or boot) drive.

It will then ask you where you want FS2020 to be installed.
Tell it where your “Installed Packages” are and it will not download them.

Of course, any files that it cannot find or that are bad will be downloaded.

And, i don’t know if this will fix any saved configuration parameters in the
cloud but it is a new install.

The files in the WGS folders are all named with a GUID.

The Controller and some of the config files are actually XML file.

The two other (very Big) ones are Binary in nature
(1st) Most of the MSFS settings - what is of interest here
(2nd) Something else, that is best not talked about (and is Not what you need to look at for this issue)

You are not going to easily be able to do anything with those two Binary files, and if you attempt to edit them, chances are, it will not end well.
