Where are the thunder and lightning...?

Tropical cyclones can have lightning but usually a lot less than other types of storms. They are warm core systems that need a low wind shear environment, which means a lot less charge buildup from ice particles rubbing together.

If I had time right now I’d sample the cyclone down in Texas to see what the simulator is doing with the lightning. If I had to guess there’s quite a bit down there even though actual lightning reports look pretty sporadic at the moment.

A lot of lightning in Europe - also in the METARS - but not in the MSFS. Thats not nice. Never see lightning in live weather in Europe.

I did, a few days ago!! Where are the thunder and lightning...? - #420 by crazyhorsejesol

There’s widespread thunderstorms across Europe this evening and not a single flash of lightning in live weather
