Where do you guys do your Shopping for MSFS 2020 Items like Aircraft, Scenery, 3rd party Utilities?

Contrail works just like the Orbx store and sells things you can’t find on Orbx but only on other stores like simmarket. So when you use Orbx and Contrail together you can keep everything auto updated.

And you can use addon linker when you use custom library folders to prevent long loading times.

Hey, thanks for the tip, I’ll try it on next purchase. One question, does it update addons totally automatically, or can it be set to just notify there is update, so I can start the update manually in the client (like ORBX)? I have some aircrafts where I changed some cfg files, which would be overwritten with update, so I actually prefer latter option.

On startup of the application, Contrail will give you a notification that there is an update available. The Downloads tab will show a (1). There you can click the ‘Update’ button.
So yes, starting the update is manual, but the update process is automated.

Also comes with a changelog every time, which is still very inconsistent on Orbx Direct in my experience!

Should i download the FBW A320 directly from the flybywire website, through the community downloader tool oder in the sim content manager/marketplace? Thanks!

Preferable via ORBX because of the windows app ORBX Central, which has a build in updater for the purchased content. I hate it to stay up to date on every single content I purchased and then to manual download it via a website. So yeah, ORBX or in rare cases the MSFS marketplace.

100% PMDG and some other developers such as Areosoft directly from their website.

I prefer Orbx Central and contrail, for airports because they have a very inutive way of locating addons with the discover function where i can see everthing on a map. Also I can make a library and install my sceneries on a different hardrive.

If the marketplace had these features and updates came more quickly I would use the marketplace just to support MS because I love this game and want it to keep developing. But unfortunatly the marketplace is so PITA to use…
MS really need to improve their shop or else the funding they hoped for isn’t gonna happen.

For purchases strictly from the MSFS store! I’m happy with the ease of purchase/install. I have a inventory in game. As far as updates go… They update when they update, no big deal for me as there was never a update that was so mind blowing and exciting that I could not wait for. Twice there was a new release not available from the in game store so I went directly to the developer and Simmarket. For freeware I go to Flightsim.to💖

I’ve been buying thigns only through the game marketplace, as I don’t really like the idea of running yet another piece of software. I’m already running the sim itself, air manager, opentrack, autopopout, and littlenavmap. I did try making a batch file to just open it all up with only 1 click, but it seems like when I did this, that batch file would never close until I closed opentrack for some reason…so I gave up on that idea and jsut open everthing manaually (all pinned to the windows task bar).

However, there are some things that I’m interested in buying, but they jsut can’t seem to be found on the in game marketplace.

e.g. I’ve just seen that orbx do a great britain scenery pack, but for the life of me I can’t find it in the marketplace (only individual airports, and a seperate london city pack, which I’ve just bought). On this item for example there are lots of reviews dating back to around august last year, and some of them mention that it will be coming to the marketplace…but that was 6 nmonths ago, and I still can’t see it?

So I am tempted to try out the orbx software to get thigns like that…but then like I said, it’s another thing to keep running…and from what I can gather, purchases made there will not show as owned in the game itself…which I’d rather have everything that I own in one place :\
