I havenā€™t done any in-depth investigation of this issue, but I have flown toward what looks like rain sheets falling from the sky, but have never actually been able to get to them or see falling rain on my windshield. Like the OP, Iā€™ve set the weather to rain and had dark clouds and rain in the distance, but no rain at my location. I just thought I was doing something wrong. Has anyone been able to fly through rain?

I had like a lot of ā€˜smokeā€™ behind my plane when i landed somewhere yesterday on the tarmac, but i couldnt see any wet spots or raindrops on the runway at all

Also, if i remember correctly, in MSFS2020 we had a precipitation option in the weather settings. But so far I have not found it in 2024. Has this been removed? or have I simply overlooked it?

ā€¢ I have rain. The ā€œPrecipitationā€ is the 1st option. On your screenshot we can see a scroll bar, you need to scroll up.

Tried again. Still no rain

How to reproduce:

  1. go to free flight
  2. select weather > preset > rain
  3. change time to day
  4. select airport EGFF
  5. Fly

Changing cloud density or increasing precipitation also produces no rain

Weird. Means my sim is broken somehow. How can it work in one sim and not in the other? Something is bugged

Check your windshield effects option being ā€œhighā€
Thereā€™s a bug which makes it revert to medium. Do a forum search on the solution for this.

I will check but I donā€™t see the rain outside either

Not even that in my case

i have the same problem (among others of course)
windshield set to high, weather set to rain, and inbetween i tried everything to change precipitation/humidity, density of clouds etc.
7950X
RTX 4080 SUPER
64 GB RAM
WIN11

I wanted to add that the clouds do seem to produce something like rain in the far distance. But even the runway stays dry at all times so i reckon that this hasnā€™t anything to do with the windshield not functioning correctly but with there really being no rain at all. Reinstalled the game

Rain is def not working :frowning: sometimes it works but most the time it does not - had bit better luck with real weather than presets - its a basic function one would think

In live weather I had indeed rain. Strangely, picking the rain preset didnā€™t give me rain.

For me, I cant see the rain effects on the windshield and thought it was my pc. But then I tried it on Cloud gaming and it workedā€¦for like a minā€¦ and cloud gaming would crash lol
