I haven’t done any in-depth investigation of this issue, but I have flown toward what looks like rain sheets falling from the sky, but have never actually been able to get to them or see falling rain on my windshield. Like the OP, I’ve set the weather to rain and had dark clouds and rain in the distance, but no rain at my location. I just thought I was doing something wrong. Has anyone been able to fly through rain?

I had like a lot of ‘smoke’ behind my plane when i landed somewhere yesterday on the tarmac, but i couldnt see any wet spots or raindrops on the runway at all

Also, if i remember correctly, in MSFS2020 we had a precipitation option in the weather settings. But so far I have not found it in 2024. Has this been removed? or have I simply overlooked it?

• I have rain. The “Precipitation” is the 1st option. On your screenshot we can see a scroll bar, you need to scroll up.

Tried again. Still no rain

How to reproduce:

  1. go to free flight
  2. select weather > preset > rain
  3. change time to day
  4. select airport EGFF
  5. Fly

Changing cloud density or increasing precipitation also produces no rain

Weird. Means my sim is broken somehow. How can it work in one sim and not in the other? Something is bugged

Check your windshield effects option being “high”
There’s a bug which makes it revert to medium. Do a forum search on the solution for this.

That’s right, it’s just in a circle around the plane…
