So I’ve noticed when forecast heavy rain you get a few spits at the departure airport but after a couple of minutes flying it disappears and that’s you , no rain for rest of journey. I’ve noticed this pattern almost every time rain is forecast.

Don’t compare the weather with a forecast but with the current weather reports.
Depending on the situation, rain can be very hard to predict.
I did not see big differences of rain and cloud coverage to real weather lately, compared to current weather reports. The wind, temperature, visibility etc. are a different topic though…

Started at KBTV and in game it showed overcast, heavy rain, etc. outside it was more like spitting rain and once taxiing was accomplished really didn’t see much after that. Visual precip seems to be not unfolding like it should be.
Today at Rome raining in real and in sim.. for me all is ok.

Interesting cuz at times it indeed states there is precipitation at the airfield but the degree to what the sim shows is only a proverbial “drop in the bucket” to what I should be seeing. I have all settings on Ultra and windscreen effects are maxed out.
Gonna have to play around with this some more. Might be a hit or miss thing as I have not flown in very many instances of precip conditions. I’ll try it under weather pre-sets and see.
Similar thing with snow. Every time I use the “Snow” weather pre-set, it’s sunny and clear above 5k feet, cloudy from 1k-5k, and finally snowing (lightly) below 1k. So the only time I get to see “snow” on my snowy trip is for 5 minutes at either end. 
Forget live weather for now and go with Sofly weather presets…guaranteed lots of rain and snow with their presets…well worth it !

Yes there ist Thunder and flash all over Germany, wherever there are covered clouds.
