Wheres the hotfix

So Xbox doesn’t use 100% render scaling?

I’ve not faffed around with the config files myself, but setting the render scale to 100 is a must until they hotfix the lights. FWIW, this is what I had mine already on as < 100 looks pretty rubbish and I can’t tell the difference with > 100, so I never even saw the lighting defect myself.

As for clouds, I’ll admit that I’m not sure what the situation is with them. Sometimes when I fly they look awesome, and sometimes less so. But I’m pretty sure that this was the case pre-SU5 anyway, so I’m not even 100% sure that what we have now is actually degraded from what we had back then. There’s a lot of angry, ranty people on here, but not a lot of really concrete information on what the current state of the sim actually is as regards cloud generation.

On my own system (Ryzen 5600X + 3070 @ 3440x1440), I can run ultra-everything and get 60fps+ in the air, and rarely less than 30 on the ground, even at heavy custom airports. I’ve seen some slowdown on longer flights (which I rarely do, TBF - most are < 2 hours) but I’m yet to test the workarounds suggested on here, which are related to live data.

Things like ground textures when flying at altitude look pretty good now to me though. I saw someone else saying that theirs is still a blurry mess, but as this data tends to be live streamed, I wonder if that was a local data / internet / Azure cloud issue, rather than a specific sim defect, as mine have looked consistently good since SU5 was patched (and with WU6).

You don’t mention what aircraft you fly, but there are still long-standing defects with the in-built FMS, which I hope the newly-integrated Working Title team will be looking to fix with their excellent work they’ve done over the last year. FBW have done a great job to integrate the WT custom flight plan manager into the A320 (it’s in the experimental build) and while its still WIP (e.g. you can’t use the in-game ATC with it), the actual experience when flying is generally far superior to the stock Asobo implementation, with more predictable navigation paths and more consistent handling of STARs - something that the stock FPM often makes a mess of. VNAV is on the way too, and with their A380X starting to appear in the middle-distance and Fenix’s prosim-integrated A320 in alpha test, the future looks great for Airbus in MSFS!

Happy flying and good luck!

Yes, and that sucks. But even taking XBox users into account, I’m pretty sure that’s not “everyone”. Just trying to keep the proper perspective without needless exaggeration.

More that if you work on something as complicated at this you have people testing it properly.

The best example is the version that went out with all the uplift in the flight model doubled, so you had to force aircraft to land. A two minute test flight would have spotted that one.

… or the flaps not working for none of the aircraft (SU3 I think).

Well thats 50% of the game in theory to all xbox users. No dusk flying, no night flying. Its a pretty big issue.

I work in IT software and I know what our customers reaction would be to ‘giving them a workaround’. Lets just say it wouldn’t be pleasant.

Not if it were instead of a real fix, no, but it isn’t in this case. A hotfix is imminent, and I don’t assume that you think they should have kept the temporary workaround to themselves? (Not that they could have, as it was a member on this forum who quickly discovered it.)

Im fine with the hot fix coming when its ready, but missing the night time bug is a pretty glaring thing. How it was missed in testing is anybodies business. Maybe they only tested on pc.

That would be a real shame if true.

I believe it dynamically changes in order to hit a target framerate and lock it there.

Easier to simply say it’s Aosobo’s fault. Given how well this has sold, I would guess that it’s just a very small minority who are still having issues and in those cases, I’d wager that most are due to issues with their PC’s / game installations.

It sold for a year before the downgrade occurred. Before that, there were glitches, but generally, things improved without taking big steps back.

hey,

live weather today,
all in ultra…zoom the pictures and see those amazing pixeled clouds :frowning:

I’m not sure the point. Haven’t been able to follow the thread, but those clouds look pretty good. I fly on ultra and now and then the clouds look weird and fake. Other times they look incredibly real. I think it depends heavily on the type of cloud and the perspective of the viewer.

Have you tried the Bush trips? Do they work OK for you? No lost POI in the FD and the VFR map after you complete the first few legs?

This is the way the clouds have looked from day 1. I can’t for the life of me figure why so many people think this is from a recent update.

Where’s the HotFix…Gone on vacation as everything else!

Yes, you’ve toned down the dialog very respectably. Thank you for that.

I would expect Hotfix will be released on Thursday/Friday…fingers crossed

I’ve just checked, and this week is still this week, no? That was the timescale given, so not quite sure what your expectations are here…

Possess your soul with patience, my friend
