Which Aircraft are at the top of your wishlist for third-party devs to make?

They aren’t designed for aesthetics, they’re designed for efficiency. I think it is more logical/practical to fly an aerodynamically efficient craft than a pretty box.

I don’t think it matters in a sim. Id much rather marvel at the beauty of the older craft. A DC6 vs an Airbus or a Connie vs an ES30. I’d pick the older ladies everytime. Interest and beauty

@Pilotfirst9999 Please don’t be disrespectful of “flying box cars”.

I love sleek designs like that of the Supermarine Spitfire and the De Havilland Hornet. But the original flying box car, the Fairchild C-119, has its own particular charm.

Wow that’s a cool one. I retract my submission, can we get that

You just can’t beat the aircraft from late 30s to late 60s. Modernity has ruined the craft of design. Everything is mass produced now for efficiency. Originality in beauty is dead.
A bit like the demise of the steam train. Magnificent beasts they were. Now, ugly electric trains :man_facepalming: :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes! We need some proper Saab JAS 39 Gripen Es.

Hopefully, developers like Just Flight and Azure Polly will take up the cause.

And hopefully, we will see Gripens with Rolls Royce or Saran engines, too.

when we can fly through the air without depositing a million metric tons of burnt kerosene into the upper atmosphere on a daily basis, THEN we can say we have mastered flight. Same for cars and trains, ships and landscaping equipment. Search Flight Aware to see all of the commercial aircraft in flight each day. Then multiply that number by the fuel capacity of each aircraft. The result will break your mind. Folks shouldn’t be worried about ‘contrail conspiracies’ when the actual known emissions from DAILY commercial air travel is so devastating. There is no mystery. Burn a million metric tons of kerosene at altitude globally every single day and the results are measurable, calculable, and terrible.

Don’t be so quick to hate the new aircraft, trains and cars. It isn’t perfect yet but it’s a step in the right direction.

IRL I agree aircraft are not very healthy for planet earth. This is a sim and our aircraft don’t dump any particulate. However, we are all guilty of damaging the environment via our use of PCs and electricity. I don’t think any of us are rushing to switch them off to save the planet. :slightly_smiling_face:
So for me, and I know many others, the older craft are just so much more aesthetically pleasing. There is something so gutteral about the roar of a noisy radial which just beats hands down the electric hum of modernity.

I’m mainly referring to commercial air travel being the single largest contributor to our global climate problem. Comparing that to PC use is an obvious prevarication. You could compare it to the contributions from landscaping equipment as an apples to apples maybe. Nothing comes close to what commercial aviation (real world) has done in both volume and the fact that most of the deposits occur at altitude.

Yes this is a flight sim forum, but the discussion turned on the idea that modern aircraft are not aesthetically pleasing without considering any of the reasoning behind their design. My point was to describe why aesthetics are the least important thing about them. MSFS presents this flight sim on many platforms as a way of attracting and creating younger potential aviation enthusiasts through flight simulation. Being inspired by cutting edge aviation design and technology looking forward is easily as important as generating older, iconic mid 1900’s airframes for those of us bent on looking backwards.

Im only referring to the electrification of aircraft eg ES30.
Just by the way, PC use is damaging the environment. The great big AI centers being built to serve ever hungry data requirements are doing just that. Rare earth metals and electronic waste and also damaging water availability. In the process of manufacturing these so called healthy electric machines, where do you think the materials and power comes from to do that. Fossil fuel and huge rare earth open cast mines which are poisoning the surrounding area.
Do I still want to fly knowing that , yes because it’s my hobby. I love it :slightly_smiling_face:

Gripen?!

We need Viggen!

We need Draken!

We need Lansen!

We need Tunnan!

The swedish airforce is very much missing in this game!

I need a Inibuilds regular a321 NEO with no LR or XLR

I also need an Inibuilds a319 and a318 for career mode

And I need a Boeing 737 300

Would love a PMDG 767 series

ID love an A330 preferably developed by Fenix

No, please not Fenix. Those guys are incapable or unwilling to do a MP/console version of their aircraft

Some parts of their A320 family aircraft run in an external Windows program, so that’s the reason why it’s not available on those platforms.

iniBuilds and PMDG are the only other devs who make good airliners for PC and Xbox. Inibuilds already has an A330 and PMDG likely will never make one. Unfortunately, console users will probably never see a better A330 than the MS/ini one.
