Which Carenado C182 is the best?

I have the retractable gear C182 which I have a lot of fun with and prefer over the default Cessna 172. I know the system depth isn’t amazing, but for relaxing flying it works just fine. I was thinking of trying one of the other variations (C182Q or the turbo-charged variant) but I’m not sure if the differences are worth it, or if I already have the best version. What do you all think?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Entirely subjective: I fly both, but prefer the Q to the T about two to one flight hours. The Q has the PMS50 GTN750 which I prefer to the G1000 in the T, but both are just fine really. For turbocharging I prefer the CT210M to the 182T, when I need high altitude performance. Again, all subjective. What are you looking for in another 182?

Really just another fun casual plane for little “road trip” scenarios. I usually avoid the default 172 and 150, but I fly the Cessna skymaster, carenado bonanzas (single and twin) and a few of the piper pacer ones. I like to mix it up a bit so it’s more for variety

Unfortunately they all have problems. The RG has VR issues as far as I know. Some gauges blink in and out and Carenado won’t update their 2020 aircraft for 2024 so it’s not like to get fixed. The Q’s hobbs meter won’t go past 10.9 hrs. They promised they’d fix that many months ago… but nope. The T is glass, tho I guess that’s not a real problem for some lol

The 210 is the best one imo.

Generally, I fly my favorites in a currency rotation: The Cessnas will be either the Q or T; followed by a flight or two in the T210M; then the Twin Cessnas: 337H or the 310R, followed by the 414AW. After a day or two in the Cessnas I will fly one of the airliners or biz jets in the rotation. Then back to GA when it be Beechcrafts, alternating Black Square/Carenado. Some more turbine time, then the Pipers.

The currency rotation groups flights around common control/controller configurations and makes sure I get time in an all my favorites, so I don’t lose sight of their unique challenges and qualities. When I find that I am skipping a model in the rotation more than two or three times around, I may move it to the out of rotation list until I find that I miss it. This also happens when a model badly needs updating and I would rather spend the time in models that are working well for me.

When there are major updates to a model or series, PMDG Boeings for example, I may fly through some of those out of sequence for a week or so. Then a day or two of GA in whichever was up next. An Aerostar update will jump the line for a flight or two. Weekend flying is often GA when the game servers are loaded and I want to take short and easy to plan flights.

Well, the 182Q just went on sale via marketplace, so maybe I’ll go ahead and get it even though it’s a bit redundant since I already have the 182RG. I think I’ve ruled out the Turbo 182 though since I already have the t210 and am not as into glass cockpits

Thanks for the help everyone!

Just be aware the Hobbs meter stops at 10 hrs. The tenths keeps rolling but the 10 never moves. I’m probably the minority, but that really bugs me!

I’ll hope for a fix with you, but in the meantime I’ll roleplay being a pilot in a 182Q with a busted Hobbs meter

Which would never happen to me, because I’d have it replaced immediately.

Maybe they never expected anyone to actually fly it that long.

I kind of doubt that…

They told me they’d fix it in the next update. They didn’t. But I haven’t run into any other planes with this problem so I suspect it’s unique to this one.
