I like having multiplayer on but I wish there was a way to only show gamer tags within a certain distance. The distant city centers are a mess of tags from a distance.
Between tag crowding and how bad most simmers fly I’m starting to go with more just FSLTL injection only. I did a group flight this weekend and I was shocked how normally the other airplane was flying. I thought the sim was just being wonky with multiplayer aircraft (as it is with AI aircraft).
There’s a bindable command to toggle the nameplates on or off, so if you have that bound and it gets crowded you can easily toggle them off without having to go into the options. I use it now and then to see if anyone’s about as I have them off by default.
I usually have weather set to live and multiplayer set to all, unless I’m doing some modding or testing of mods then I usually go with some weather presets and with AI and human traffic set to off so I’m not distracted.
All Players, No Traffic (replaced with FSLTL), Live Weather (usually).
I normally fly out of smaller municipal/business airports so I don’t see much unrealistic flying. I’ve been intercepted to my knowledge only a few times and I found out because I used the external camera.
It’s neat to see other players online but if it ever became a problem for me id turn multiplayer off and let FSLTL handle all traffic.
I’f im doing a full flight I always do it live time and weather. But if I’m working on just one aspect of flight or configuring the sim or external software I will fly daylight and clear skies.
Multiplayer OFF. 4 747’s doing Pugochev’s Cobra. Another Hovering in place 360ing above the control tower. Flight of 8 A380’s taking off the wrong direction on the active runway. F-18 in full reheat sliding across the apron on its canopy. 737 pulling out onto a taxiway and driving through your plane. All within the span of three minutes. Was like the scene in Kindergarten Cop the 1st time Arnold was left alone with the children.
