Which PC should I get? One with 3080 or one with 3090 for $400 more?

I am trying to decide between these two prebuilt computers for MSFS2020 VR with a HP Reverb G2, I picked up a the Omen with the 3090, but then the Alienware became available today, and I could switch it out. Should I stick with the 3090 and slower CPU, or get the 3080 with faster CPU, and it $400 USD less?

Here is the Alienware at $2,600

R11 Gaming Computer; Intel Core i9 10900KF 3.7GHz Processor; NVIDIA RTX 3080 10GB GDDR6X; 32GB DDR4-3200 RAM; 1TB SSD

Here is the Omen at $3000 (I have it in hand, but not opened and could be returned)

Omen 30L Gaming Computer; Intel Core i9 10850K 3.6GHz Processor; NVIDIA RTX 3090 24GB GDDR6X; 32GB DDR4-3200 RAM; 1TB SSD; 10/100/1000 LAN + WiFi 6 WLAN; Windows 10 Home

I just returned an Alienware R11 with a 3090. I had an i9-10900k CPU and had cooling issues.

The processor would run 90+ degrees and throttle causing stutters.

The only way to prevent it wad to turn off hyperthreading.

In my opinion the Alienware has a small cramped case with insufficient cooling.

I just got a new Alienware with liquid cooling , 10900KF with the RTX 3080, it works great and I have had no cooling problems.

That’s awesome! Maybe mine was just a dud.

I do not run 4K as I think it tends to push the GPU too much. I have a 34 inch 3440X1440 monitor and it looks great, works great and I feel there are less heat problems this way…just my theory.

I just acquire 10 days ago an R11 with 3080 and i7-10700F (watercooled). Perf are there and I don’t get stutter. I’m running on a Dell Ultrawide 3415W (3440x1440). About temp, the fan on top of the case blow a huge amount of hot air and I will have to move the case somewhere else than under my desk  for the hot summer season. For now, I limit fps to 30 via VSYNC ON in MSFS to avoid CPU/GPU to perform at full speed

Because I start playing with scenery/bush developpment and as I’m a video addict, I had 4 Tb of SSD and HD and an extra 16 GB of Ram (total 32GB)
