White Dot Gone
Unplugged controllers and mouse, restarted MSFS with different mouse and no white dot or mouse issues.
Restarted computer, reconnected controllers and original mouse, mouse pointer as in video.
Question: Are you using a second monitor with your system?
I have a similar bug, but ā¦
- I use two displays
- I often get a fake mouse cursor (which does not move) on the MSFS screen (usually the āhandā icon)
- ā¦ but only when my main cursor is parked on the second screen.
In your case I think the first video does show that the circle and the mouse curser are both flickering ā¦ which feels to me like the dot is a bug in some kind of cursor rendering too.
Thereās an ongoing bug report about this. Itās actually two issues that are combined because the white dot issue affects (in some cases, not always) mouse interaction with cockpit buttons, switches and knobs.
The bug report is here, and the thread about the white dot is here (Iām almost sure there was another bug report for the white dot alone, but canāt find it)
Unfortunately thereās no hot fix for this, and if I recall correctly itās scheduled for the next or the following SU.
Yes, I have a second monitor. Why would I have the cursor on the other screen to create a video of a common problem?
I donāt think you understand, the first video was the problem.
I fixed the problem in the second by disconnecting the USB mouse and controllers, and reconnecting.
MSFS has the white dot and laggy mouse caused in this instance due to USB issues.
I must be doing something wrong.
I had a problem that many said was created by me.
I then found out that the problem was caused at the latest update by MSFS creating some USB conflict/issue.
I then solved the issue, for me anyway, and I get these comments stating I used a second monitor to create a problem, and then a description of the problem as if it wasnāt in the video and it canāt be fixed, even when I did.
I think my time here is done, or could someone state how I miscommunicated that there was an issue and I found a fix.
I think the other one it is recorded and logged at is here? - AAU2 Beta: worse performance and odd white frame around MFDs in PMDG 737-800 and other aircraft - Bug Reports / Install, Performance & Graphics - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums
I do think that resetting the USB devices does seem to help. I have a USB hub with power switches and when I get the white dot or frame then I cycle them off/on and it seems to make it recover. It is a good tip to share.
I do find that it comes back eventually again though, as I think it is probably related to ānoisy peripherals/controller inputsā that before AAU2 got filtered out but now seem to interact with the focus/pointer and trigger the white dotness issue.
I have looked everywhere for this issue, and made other posts, so I know that there is a bug logged and all sorts of complaints without solutions.
There is also an unhealthy amount of apologists here that seem to treat MSFS as some sort of cult, and the usual āit works for me, so if it doesnāt work for you, then you have done something wrong.ā
I had the dot return when I was in VR and just unplugged the mouse, then plugged it back in, and it was gone, with the mouse control being perfect. It is the same as switching off the powered hub that you do, and I will look at setting that up.
So it relates to how MSFS configures game controllers and is expecting a game controller for everyone, every time. This is reset with updates if you sort the issue out.
When a game controller isnāt there, it just uses the default position of the centre and fights with the mouse. Unplugging the mouse seems to reset this when it is detected again. It changes from controller mode into mouse mode, something it should, but doesnāt do.
VR controllers have the same issue, which is why it is fine in 2D but switching to VR brings the dot and game controller mode back. Once again, unplugging and plugging the mouse back in resets to the mouse mode.
This issue wonāt ever be fixed because it depends on all the variables that contribute to the problems, such as hardware, VR software and Steam vs MS Store. It also highlights how badly the game is designed and the incompetence of the developers, as such a simple fix is needed for a design flaw that I donāt think can be fixed, because it is at the root of essentially having an XBOX game on PC.
An issue I had before was because of Steam. It updated the controller options, with them on as default, so once again, Steam is sending a controller signal and the default position of the ball fights with the mouse as there is no game controller connected, with Steam and MSFS waiting for a signal, assuming that even though you are on PC with a mouse, everyone uses a game controller.
I think I have just had too much of dealing with people online and need a break.
I know your issue isnāt āmouse lagā, but posting this here just as a thought ā¦ I already asked you what are your controller and remember the way you answered me.
I hope you will get this sorted out.
Look at the first video, it is mouse lag, and being unusable. It is exactly the same as the post, I donāt know why you linked it. I have created a new post as a solution, as a comment will just be lost.
I use an X56 if that is what you really need to know. This controller does all sorts of bad things if not plugged into the MB. The problem is not caused by any part of my hardware, but may be linked to my scimitar mouse and the ICUE software. This seems unlikely as Iām now dot and mouse problems free using it.
All mouse lag and issues are related to the white dot. It is either fixed in the centre, or the white dot appears under where the mouse is when trying to change something. As I stated, it relates to game controller input that is expected, but not received.
If you are really concerned, contact the mods to get this moved, deleted or something.
Hi, I find the issues surrounding mouse usage in this simulation to be extremely annoying, how is it that Asobo can code fantastic flight dynamics and intricate flight systems and yet the most basic peripheral to code for they severely struggle with?
It doesnāt make sense to me, there are many mouse related bugs & issues dating back years now, the white dot is just one example of a poorly designed āfeatureā that wasnāt dealt with during the beta period when it shouldāve been made top priority at least with a hotfix.
I urge the team to investigate internally why basic mouse operations persist after all this time, it really needs vast improvement.
Thank you

I can only guess that it is an XBOX game that can be used on a PC that is the issue.
Nothing makes me more frustrated than this game. You are right in that the flying is great, but basic issues are just ignored.
I have had so many issues, and check all the forums and now consider my suffering to warrant me one of the lucky ones. There are some that never get VR to work, constant problems with NVIDIA drivers, and for āinsert swear wordsā, this mouse issue that has exasperated users with some never seeming to find a solution.
Iām now having a good run, and I hope you are too.
White dot seems to be caused by USB controller (pedals, etc.). Add a dead zone in sensitivities settings mostly gets rid of it. For USB pedals, changing to Extremity to -10 worked for me.
Utterly weird. I have only been suffering from this white dot issue for a short time and have been quite stumped over it. However I just adjusted my rudder pedal settings within the sim and the white dot is gone. Thanks for the suggestion.
