I do think that resetting the USB devices does seem to help. I have a USB hub with power switches and when I get the white dot or frame then I cycle them off/on and it seems to make it recover. It is a good tip to share.
I do find that it comes back eventually again though, as I think it is probably related to ‘noisy peripherals/controller inputs’ that before AAU2 got filtered out but now seem to interact with the focus/pointer and trigger the white dotness 
issue.
