I think there should be separate code, separate scenery, separate planes, separate EVERYTHING specifically for each platform. The cross platform mishmash (3rd party plane fidelity being ‘dumbed down’ for XBox is a prime example.)
What really needs to happen is MS need to launch a console with realistic memory specs for todays gaming. If the next one doesn’t have at least 32GB, maybe even 64GB, they are shooting themselves in the foot. And none of that shared memory nonsense either.
This is a myth. Please stop perpetuating it. Separate versions can, and do, exist:
This has been discussed at great lengths and economically it’s not feasible. Asobo would essentially have to staff up significantly and at that point the studio’s cashflow would be unsustainable. There would be no operating leverage. MS has said that without Xbox there is no MSFS on PC, as the business model wouldn’t be there. We would still be on FSX.
Are you saying it’s not possible to create an aircraft that will fine on PC but be impossible to run on XBox due to memory constraints? Devs are already having to jump through hoops now. How bad will it get further down the road as more, and more complex aircraft become possible?
Users are already having black screen issues, which I believe is due to memory issues right now. It will only get worse if newer hardware doesn’t have improved specs. And where does that leave existing users that don’t want to upgrade? Are developers shackled by platform constraints if they want to release on the Marketplace? All it will do is drive some developers always from it so they can release on PC only.
I think if Addon developers say yes, it will work on XBOX, it will work, after all they are the ones under the car changing parts. If they say no, they won’t operate and they won’t bring it. I never saw the Asobo people saying, Look, it’s the end of the line for the XBOX, and from now on there won’t be any more third-party addons, and they wouldn’t waste time with WASM and something like that.
I am going to close this thread as it not really appropriate for this category…

Feedback on how the sim can be improved are always appreciated- but for the benefit of all forum users please use the correct category on the forums.
There is nothing in this thread that we as end users can do to “support” each other with regards to a request for different codes for varying platforms. That is an Asobo/MS matter.
There was a similar wish list a couple of years ago here… It may be of interest to read the closing comments for that thread
