I scarcely see trees that look that way in real life, but many probably 1/3rd of trees in fs2020 have a massive chunk taken out of the middle.
I can understand some variation in the vertical ordering of branches and some gaps here and there, but the way it’s done in the game is just way over the top I think.
Also, in the UK, FS2020 currently believes 70% of trees are triangular-shaped/pyramidal pine trees when in reality they are scarcely found in most of the countryside. Having lived here all my life, I’d say it’s at least below 15% of if not 5%.
I also live in the UK, also have done for all my adult life and I have also walked the countryside but also suggest I’ve only seen less than 5% of it so could make no judgement of how many trees there are and of what type. I can only go on what data the Forestry Commission and Woodland Trust put out. 51% of trees in the UK are conifers and majority are non-native.
You can argue all you like but I’ll take that data before your anecdotal evidence based on an incomplete sample.
You also state 70% of the trees in the sim within the UK are conifers. Have you flown and examined every tree in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and all the islands in the sim? No, thought not.
I mean would you genuinely notice if the trees were accurate anyway? Would you change your mind if it meant dramatic hits to performance just so the tree outside your house is rendered correctly?
Colorado (where i live) is filled with Pines, Spruces and Firs. But i’m not going to make sure each tree is accurately placed and represented correctly in game because one, there are a lot of f***ing trees in Colorado and two, if i’m flying that close to the ground, my focus is not crashing into the ground, not making sure that tree over yonder is like the tree it represents IRL.
A tree is a tree my dude, you’re flying in the air anyway…
Is this what you mean by that dark gap line through the trees on the shore line?
Otherwise, I don’t see this distortion very often during low level flying. Click on photo to zoom in.
Example:
Almost any time someone shares a comparison photo of MSFS and real life, I look for the trees.
I had always just forgiven this because it is better than anything else.
But it would be really cool if we could get some shorter and more varied trees. Almost everywhere. This would still be imperfect like autogen scenery, but it is cool to imagine improved trees.
