The instructions for custom vierws are not working that I read on Zendesk. They are the following:
The cockpit view has ten (10) Custom views slots
At any time, you can save the current camera position to a Custom view slot, using “Save custom camera [0, 1, 2…]” (by default, left ctrl + left alt + [1, 2, 3…])
You can then reload this custom view using “Load custom camera [0, 1, 2…]” (by default, left alt + [1, 2, 3…])
Now it seems, views are stored in cockpit.cfg, which is difficult to edit. I tried in several planes, like the DA40 to save a view using ctrl-alt-# in nmber 6 and it does not work. I get some view that I assume is saved in cockpit config.
Is there a way to get the old way working? I like to assign a view and bind it to a number pad # .
What’s happening?
The custom camera views are stored in: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_DA40. So that’s the place to edit.
Sounds like your key binds may have changed may be with an update
Got to options controls click keyboard tab then do a search by camera and display all should show you what the keys are set to for showing the views and keys for saving the custom camera
My default setting was diffrent to left ctrl and left alt for some reason
Is also woth a watch if you want to set up some external views as well
The custom views certainly work for me. As mentioned, check the key bindings in the controls tab.
Other points to note
use the numbers above the keys, not those in the number pad.
strange things happen when using the ctrl/shift/Alt keys in combination with other keys. If you have assigned other commands to the number keys, these may cause a conflict (Major Flaw in Keyboard Shortcuts).
Hi
I have been manipulating these numbers but the camera isn’t moving to the back of the aircraft. It stays in the cockpit as normal. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
Mine has never worked. I’ve changed “save custom camera x” controls so many times… never works, not even with a simple joystick button. I also can’t figure out how to just simply change the default pilot view… that’s all I really want.
I gave up on custom views a long time ago as well. I’ve followed written tutorials. I’ve watched how-to videos. They’ve never worked for me.
Once I got my X56 HOTAS that had a small analog thumb stick set for free look, I no longer cared about customs views from that point onward. Now I have a yoke and have my XBox controller attached to it that I use for free look (analog sticks). Problem solved as far as I’m concerned.
I use the custom views in Cockpit without problems, assigning them with Ctrl+Alt+# and recalling with Alt+#.
As ExtraPilot6480 noted, use the number keys over the letters, not those in the keypad.
Custom views have never worked for me either… so something’s amiss if they work for some but not others. I mean the instructions are easy enough to follow. Only a question of hitting a keying sequence to save a view and another sequence to recall them but nope… don’t work!
