I grew up around airplanes, although nobody in my family was a pilot. I therefore pursued my aviation career, of which I have retired early, because the low-cost mentality of running an airline was not for me, not while the people at the red carpet floors earned more than ever before. I went corporate. It was fun while it lasted, but the richer people are, the more they lose touch with reality, at least the billionaires and their close friends, that I’ve worked for. I won’t go into details as to why. I also disliked being a “fake friends” shuttle service, because I dislike people abusing “friendships” for the benefits of using their “friends” private jets for their own pleasures, oh and you really don’t want to know what I have seen them do, use, and so on.
I quit. I work with aviation safety now and fly a few times a year, but because it is not cheap, I have my fun flying sims, you can really keep the proficiency up in many ways, not the physical flying, but avionics, and so on (G1000 is gold here).
Back on track, why not having my own aviation company? I have witnessed so many businesses and like 99% of them failed. The people involved were never happy people, always problems, problems and more problems. Even the people going the extra mile, authorities and constant ridiculous minor changes with heavy consequences if caught not applying those changes, have caused many to lose everything. The maybe 10% of hangars still standing that I know, I am sure they do a lot of laundry there, and I am not talking about clothes.
Having an aviation business is a mess, it is nothing but stress, it is frustrating in all aspects, you are constantly behind the ball and need to pay a lot of money to barely be touching the ball.
I know this is just a game and having an aviation business here will never even reach 0.0000001% of reality how things really are, but good lord, I have only seen bad things, incl. people dying because of said businesses (in planes and with heart attacks), it’s just not worth even thinking about.
No hard feelings, people that go this path in this game are not doing anything wrong, just have fun, but from what I read how many are frustrated about game mechanics ruining their experience, I can only tell them that out there it’s so much worse, it eats you up from the inside.
