What part was you flying?
I tried Grand Canyon just now and shimmering wasn’t as bad, but lots of textures in the canyon not loading in or loading in late.
I know it’s not my internet, I get 185mbps+ according to xbox speed test, all be it over wifi.
Hard to get an idea, when the servers are getting a hammering.
I tried a few different areas in free flight
Sao Paulo, Scottish Highlands, South London & Portsmouth
i can fly no problem so far, and texture looks great except on my flight where they flicker and still have that red man sticking out with a banner saying ERROR ^^ also the weather wont load on the world map at least in free flight…it’s fine and it works on the actual flight, but I cannot see any weather before starting my flight, is anybody experiencing this?
I found to get live weather you need to go into the preset options in top right of flight plan screen, its set to a custom preset weather (clear skies) as default.
I can also confirm that today it’s possible to get in a plane and fly, but man….the performance and graphics are truly atrocious. I’m testing it on the Series X btw.
Working good for me in UK, Bristol area. However there are blurry textures that I would not like to see in 2024. Hope for things to improve. Using DLSS in Performance mode, VR underperforming slightly in comparison to 2020. 13900K/4090, 250Mb connection.

Settings says I have streamed 5.2GB wow
I free flight to a favourite airport: EGLL, KLAX, KJFK, Charles De Gaulle, Vancouver etc.
Then start the flight. 2024 seems to download the entire airport (peaking at 300 Mbps) then it zooms in to the runway
Press Esc and use the free cam…get some height and move towards downtown (lots of POI markers).
Over New York I skimmed at skyscraper level and the sim downloaded a huge number of textures, slowly the city built up in high resolution.
For good measure I have set my rolling cache to 64 GB. Contrary to some claims, the cache stays on disk when the sim is closed. Hopefully it fills up, reducing the need to stream.
Managed my first actual flight today. 30 seconds in the Alps.
Now switched to Naples activity flight (same as 2020).
Observations:
Ground textures are a mess and simply don’t load in.
Flight model feels identical?
Loading times are obviously very long still
UI is lagging
A few black screen crashes (sound continues)
This is not worth my time at the moment, hopefully things improve rapidly. I quite like the look of the structure they have given this game

I’ve started getting ‘License not verified’ errors when trying to connect via a VPN. Anyone else having this issue?
I had first flight today - you can see potential (lighting, clouds, trees) but with these server issues everything is affected - loading times, graphic quality, LOD, aircraft textures as well as which parts of the sim work or not. Add the fact what we cant yet load in our marketplace content and overall it’s too much of a compromise to justify the effort. It will get there but at the moment it needs a few weeks and some updates to make the effort worth it. I now have sound once I reinstalled but planes are plagued with errors like red figures appearing on them. I will wait it out for a while…
Yep, shimmering in the trees, textures loading in late or not at all, it looks poor. I just flew around some of the Grand Canyon and some of the terrain loaded in late or not at all, looked rubbish.
I’m putting it down to the servers for now.
Hey leaon here i have just uninstalled my msfs 24 again to try and get my character to work its downloading right now but i got in before it worked for 2 days qith no pilot just the error guy and i went to customize him i clicked onto the default prompt and my game froze and wont move clossed the application and reinstalling rn on gamepass if you guys have a fix please let know its geeting on my bloody nerves im in the uk
this is just how photogrammetry cities look no? i don’t think anything is “broken” here it’s just photogrammetry kinda no longer keeps up with all the different low flying features in 2024 (helis, all the new GA, walking around, free camera, photomode etc)
The shimmering effect on XSX is the worst I have ever seen in any game.
I’m on Xbox and finally managed to play as I was not at work today with no issues this morning, but knew once America woke up that would change which is quite frankly ridiculous.
At around 11am I noticed lag, then by midday I got kicked out of the game and now can’t get back in and stuck at 98% on the loading screen. With the weekend coming, I do not see this being resolved anytime soon unfortunately.
I do believe Microsoft needs to be more transparent and give timescales so we are not wasting our time daily hoping for a fix. Why aren’t they? Is that because this is a long term issue and could trigger more backlash and refunds if the truth comes out?. Very frustrated as I paid for the aviator edition and feel very short-changed.
UK here, I just gave up and got a refund, ill be ■■■■■■ if im going to spend anymore time with this shambles. MS and co should hold their heads in shame.
Definitely down to servers, I’ve seen videos on YT with better visuals/performance on the Series X
Today is the first day since launch that I’ve managed to get in and experience what it’s supposed to look like, i.e. without all the graphic quality problems caused by server access. It’s been pretty reliable all day too, so it looks like they may be slowly getting on top of it.
Getting in is just the first hurdle to cross before the real pain sets in though… I haven’t managed one successful flight yet in 6 hours, but that’s another topic and some others seem to be fairing better.
