the ironic thing is, the UK has two MS azure data centres, one in London and one in Cardiff, while the UK is one of the principle submarine cable hubs of Europe and beyond
Iām with Virgin Media , i use a VPN fine.
Which VPN provider are you using and location you are connecting too?
Spoiler alert - Stop connecting to the US, the further the VPN server the longer the round time for the packets and latency, thatās the main issue for textures not loading.
I am UK based and just VPN to Dublin (Ireland) and its speedy and textures fly in pretty quick. Iāve also seen mention of Netherlands working fine too so try closer country locations instead of just default Andyāing to the US.
VPNās tested so far: Nord, Proton and Express.
Thatās a shame that the car park is nice and lit up but there isnāt even any light radiating from the terminal buildings onto the apron, nevermind the floodlights that would normally be there IRL
On a PC I presume, not Xbox?
TwoToneMurphy has been streaming all day without issues. He is probably connect to Dublin since he is based in Ireland. Im in Northern Ireland but appear to be connected to the Isle of Man Virgin Media server
Yes a PC on a VM Superhub 5.0
Virgin Media routers cant do VPN because they are ā ā ā ā and Virgin Media are Virgin Media.
You would need a 3rd party router and your Virgin Media router to be in modem mode as majority 3rd party routers support VPNās on the actual router.
In English - If you are a Virgin Media user and Xbox then you will need to use the phone hotspot VPN method or bust. Well technically you could flip your VM router to modem mode and get a 3rd party router but then your talking a lot of money and hassle.
@PilotCentaur736 Iām a tech and security consultant so have access to different services either through purchasing myself or through expenses in my line of work.
I technically also have access to several company datacenters around the globe so Iām spoilt.
Edit 2: @DirtyGolem May have found a way to use a VPN on a VM router. Last time I checked a VM router was about 2 years ago so there may be a new revision with the option now.
Do you pay for all three VPN providers? Dont want to have to pay extra but also aware of fears of data protection when using free ones
ā ā ā ā that has destroyed my option of getting this useless sim to even run
I used ProtonVPN free version on a VMrouter connected to NL server and it worked as it should. All the planes loaded and quick load to the runway. few blurrys, but most assets and textures normal.
UK here, At the moment steam says a total of 13 hours, and all I have been doing is going in circles getting nowhereā¦
Stuck at 97%
Stuck at Customize Identity, and canāt even get to the page to skip.
CTD while loading at 87%
32 hours since release and still canāt fly. Spent Ā£130 as other people have for what? See the trailer that has 59 images worthā¦
Take my money and then donāt give me a sim, Whatās worse if it happens to them they want it FAST they want their money back FAST, Yet now itās not.
Image that this never getās fixed?
My device is a āHub 5ā not sure about any technical limitations. I am certainly not buying additional hardware
Extremely unlikely that itās never lol, theyāre a little to big to get away with that (this aināt some crowdfunded nonsense)
Just play in 2 or 3 weeks and use 2020 for now if that works for you. 2024 is currently working for me so Iāve decided to swap over since for my purposes itās a fair bit better
I still have 2020 installed for flying aircraft that needs time for devs to update for 2024, Crazy how many people removed 2020 Xddd
Im in the UK (NE England) with 250mb to the router through powerline extenders to the PC via a 6E router with the PC connected for a Quest 3, so 90mb at the pc. I get decent (a couple of mins atm) loading and ive done a few flights but i get a low bandwidth warning starting out so the photogrammetry is complete potato. It improves but theres a high level of urgh for a while.
The point is that bandwidth at the router is almost impossible to change in normal conditions when theres only 2 devices connected (the pc and the Q3) so i have concerns. Might try the vpn tomorrow but it feels icky as a base option, idk
Youāre not alone. This is happening to me too.
I really donāt know why the people who claimed to have so much storage for 2020 removed it, absolutely bizarre to me as well. I did move my entire 2020 install to a slow hdd, but Iāll be keeping it for Top Gun.
The same Microsoft server farms that are having trouble pumping out 2024 data are the ones that pump out the 2020 data, so the same overloads are gonna be present or absent at the same time from the same places.
If itās slow, use a VPN to grab from servers elsewhere, just as with the last four years of 2020.
