I’ve used NordVPN with a 6 month old Virgin Media today with immediate success, ease and nothing needing configured… could just be a concidence but considering I went from 15 hours nothing but load bar to flying fine it seems unlikely…
30 Hours at this stage here in UK, contacted ‘support manager’. His first answer was they had fixed the first part of log-on. I said this was not so, and now he won’t reply to direct questions about exact problems (in the Sim) with a request (from me) for honest answers to our issues. No help whatsoever.
It is obvious, that they have turned off the servers for the UK at least, so ensuring no further customers can access the product. This will keep the American side happy as they can spend all day playing the game, using up the servers at the same time.
Microsoft really must think we are idiots
That is why they made it all cloud to please people with low storage, I mean why move aircraft to the cloud in 2024 as 2020 is on your drive? I have 15TB storage, 4TB is for my Flight sim and all my addons like airports are on my 8TB drive Xddddddd
Yet, My internet speeds are not good at 50mb
Ive googled it and seen similar posts about putting the VM router into Modem mode and getting a second router. No idea what to do now. Im not changing dns settings etc in case I loose all connection
What HUB do you have? I might try a free VPM tomorrow as a test. NordVPN is about £11 per month
I don’t think it should be incumbent on me, the customer, to spend time and money on a third party workaround in order to avoid having my FS2020 graphics reduced to looking like this:
It’s no exaggeration to say that we had better looking world graphics in FSX than this.
I mean… i think you have an exceptional amount of storage, the vast majority of people couldn’t install 2020. What I found funny was the people saying the 2020 install size fine (it is absolutely not lol, 320gb is far too much) also apparently deleted 2020?
Keep in mind that for flight sim to be successful, it needs to reach out beyond hardcore simmers and get the general public interested in getting invested. If you make the starting requirement so onerous… well I fear the hobby would go the same way it did after FSX…
I had several good friends visit me and have a great time with the sim, but none would install it because it was way too large for them to justify bothering to.
I actually like the way 2024 is setup, aside from the aircraft. Aircraft downloads are apparently bugged, but if the sim let’s me download all of my aircraft and all common scenery objects (liveries, default aircraft for ai, ground handling stuff, etc) we’ve got something that should work much better.
could not agree more with this post. The way that European customers (particularly in the UK) have been treated is outrageous! As a loyal customer of many years, I deserve an explanation. Where are the community managers that were so active before the launch? Why was an explanation given at a time to suit the US audience (not the place that was having all the problems)? Sounds like we are an afterthought!
I put VM into modem mode and got second router several years ago - far better, not perfect (by any stretch).
You’d think that, but they haven’t fixed it so far in four years. I’m hoping that this high-profile launch failure will prompt them to revisit their network situation!
(You’re reading into this way too much, why exactly would a french studio discriminate against europe…)
That is unfortunate, I’ve genuinely never run into this with 2020 over the last 4(?) Years
Because they work for a US based multinational?
The studio writes the software. Microsoft decides how it’s implemented.
Yet a huge quantity of their audience is very well known to be in Europe… don’t go looking for conspiracies where theres a simple explanation lol
Something is definitely up with the CDN. World seems to be loading, wasn’t an hour ago, but planes are having a very bad day.
In the UK. Not been able to fly on PC or Xbox.
Enabled VPN set to Seattle on PC and was able to fly.
Still lots of issues, random number of planes enabled, cockpits missing textures, red error man sticking out of cockpit, customize identity crashes to desktop.
Hub 5X
But looks like you can get your money back within 30 days… someone else said they checked that but I’d check to make sure you’re satisfied you can if you go that route.
Microsoft has no good reason to cut out effectively half their playerbase… you know it, I know it.
Occums razor would suggest that just like yestersay, Europe is having a bad time with its CDN… it just so happens that it’s sorted itself out in the US first.
Is the VPN working well for you? Honestly didn’t think I would be considering this three days ago!
