I used GPU-Z to get GPU load and power info.
Best result in the menu screen was when Experimental Low Power mode was ON, nVidia CP power set to normal, and Windows power plan set to balanced. I going to leave ELP ON, but set nVidia and Windows power back to the highest performance settings. My GPU is working hard when flying, and I may need to change things (especially by setting a frame rate limit) when I start using my VR headset.
No frame rate limit. I’m going to set it to 60 FPS and rerun these tests.
Like @CodeLoran69 said, constantly revving the GPU engine can’t be good for it long-term.
Plus, summer is coming, and I don’t need the computer fighting the central A/C. ![]()
My default settings
In Menu
HDR ON. DX11. 2K mode. DLSS-DLAA
Experimental Low Power = OFF
nVidia Power = High Performance
Windows Power = Maximum Performance
GPU Load = 95%
GPU Power = 405.6 W
Experimental Low Power = ON
nVidia Power = High Performance
Windows Power = Maximum Performance
GPU Load = 76%
GPU Power = 332.4 W
Big difference.
Experimental Low Power = ON
nVidia Power = Normal
Windows Power = Balanced
GPU Load = 70%
GPU Power = 310.1 W
Small improvement compared to the above. Still significant.
