Why is my GPU so BUSY when just setting at this MENU?

Nest test: Increased monitor refresh rate. Tried 144Hz and the max my monitor supports - 165Hz.
In all cases I set the nVidia frame rate limit to 1/2 the monitor refresh rate, and MSFS Sync ON @ 50% Monitor Refresh. And Experimental Low Power mode is ON.

Monitor set to 144Hz - GPU metrics in MSFS Menu screen.

Monitor set to 144Hz - GPU metrics flying Bonanza at 10,500 ft. over terrain. Live Weather ON.

Monitor set to 165Hz - GPU metrics in MSFS Menu screen.

Monitor set to 165Hz - GPU metrics flying Bonanza at 10,500 ft. over terrain. Live Weather ON.

Conclusion: It seems that - for MY SYSTEM - MSFS runs best (balancing GPU temp/load/power draw with FPS and latency performance) when I set my monitor to the max of 165Hz, limit FPS in nVidia CP to 1/2 refresh rate, and turn on V-Sync in MSFS, settings Frame Rate Limit to 50% of Monitor Refresh Rate.

The most notable thing after all these tests is that I went from 95% GPU Load in the Menu screen to 10% GPU Load. That was my first goal, and it’s clear that I achieved it.

All latencies seem very good when flying in this configuration, and 80 FPS is plenty. I’m hoping these are ideal settings for my G2 headset, which I have yet to configure. I can set it to 50% of the sim’s frame rate. If I can get 40 FPS in the G2 I think I’ll be happy.
