Iām on Xbox Series X and while I have not timed the amount of time it easily is a few minutes for sure. The more content you have the longer it takes. Itās just the way the game loads and is part of what they hope to lessen with MSFS2024 why they utilize more with the cloud.
I do notice a slight increase in time to load right after a CTD not that this is an ideal solution , ha ha. It does perhaps show that not everything is removed from ram unless there is a complete shutdown of the console? But that is just me talking out loud and I have no basis to go on. But that would be somewhat how the quick resume works.
Interestingly (maybe) I had uninstalled the Maverick add-on but I did notice it still scrolls on the activity tiles even though it isnāt there. So, I thought maybe itās looking for something for that during the pause so on the off chance, I reinstalled the Maverick Add-on and also the two US World Updates thereby increasing the size of the install a fair bit.
I re timed the start up and itās now over 2-minutes quicker to start up now.
With 10GB cache, total start up from clicking icon to at menu : 7m23sec
Click button to start of Asobo splash : 5m15sec
Asobo/black shark splash to press any key screen : 26sec
Press button to end of check updates : 23sec
End of update check to main menu : 1m18sec
On my SBSX(and my MSFS is well over 300GB) it always takes less than 2:30 but never under 2:00, unless something is borked or of course an update. No rolling cache, but donāt remember it taking any longer when I was on/off still using it back ~SU7 or so.
I remember when the Asobo/AI splash screens made noise, they havenāt in forever. And for the past few SUās Iāve had to āpress any button to startā, thatās been an on-off thing for since the beginning.
Mine used to be about that sort of time but something went screwy around SU11-12 and itās been slow ever since. I have some elements of Australia WU that I canāt get rid of even though I donāt have the Australia WU installed anymore but I think several people have this as well.
For the Asobo / black shark sound if you set the Xbox to stereo (not surround) the sounds come back again. If you have surround enabled on the Xbox, they stop playing..
Me being the overthinking type i timed mine today from clicking on the icon to being able to selct flight/world map etc and it took 2.55 on the X series with a wifi connection.
Installed add ons:
MSFS PD
PMDG 738
JS Vulcan
HB F14
LVFR A321/A318/A320
Wu UK/Ireland
Wu Germany/Austria/Switzerland
PMDG Liveries Vol5
TopGun Maverick
I do have a lot more stuff installed, got 107 items installed (and around 51 uninstalled)
MSFS PD, TGNMaverick, GN1000NXI/530/430
WUās 2,3,4,6,8,9,10,12,14
CUās 1,2,3,4,5
17 add-on airports
3 livery packs
6xvessel packs
Weather Pro, Flow Essentials, enhanced lighting, Avitar VALOR, C172 sound pack, London Landmarks
35 aircraft
Oddly the loading time dropped when I reinstalled TG Maverick and the 2xUS World Updates and Texas City update! Went from around 9 mins to about 6 mins.
Thats probably it then. I just looked and my folder is 36gig. I have over 200 aircraft/scenery in it. Probably have to remove some of the ones I rarely fly. Will see what happens.
If you use the setup page in the installer and disable all replacement jetways and replacement ground services then that will speed up the start time by quite a lot.
If you mainly fly to 3rd party airports then disabling these doesnāt have any downside, and even if you fly to autogen then it doesnāt matter much, and you could always turn on the few you actually use, while still benefiting from the speedup on the sim start.
Very long startup times here as well. From when I click the FS icon until its loaded feels like weeks almost. No, but maybe 3-4 minutes. Very often with a weird pause in the loading at 50 percent. Not sure whats going on. 5600X // 3060Ti //32Gb // 250 fiber (both ways). 31.3Gb in the community folder. Im thinking maybe the F-14 added a lot to the loading times, not sure though.
With all of the data that Asobo keeps for the game in the cloud; one might wonder do they get and track startup times? Why, all of a sudden (pretty quick this morning), does it take so long to spawn to an airport (as in just this afternoon) . The progress bar harly moves
Weirdly I added in the two USA world updates and the US City update, along with Australia WU and the start up time has dropped down to around 2 minutes. No clue whatās going on
